It will stick - you just need to keep hammering it into him. When he gets to about 5 get him a Liverpool top, then he should be sorted for life
my little one who is 4 borrowed my partners old mans blanket, it was an arsenal one, and he was ****ting himself wanting it back as he said i would set fire to the ****er lol, he did threaten to bring them back when they were younger in arsenal or utd kits, i just said fair enough your the one wasting the money lol as it aint staying. no danger of that ****e in my household, they are girls any way, they are just keeping me happy i should imagine, doubt they will grow up to like football and i don't have issues with that, do what they are happy with, which is prob dancing of some kind or acting.
My daughter got one when born and my son has one. still fits the skinny little so and so. best thing is buy the current kit about next feb/march for them to wear. cost less. but yeah this is serious brainwashing and indoctrination. you've got to hammer it in and not shout abuse at bartards like balotelli to put them off. you have to make it exciting.
