... we were in 15th place on 30 points after 23 games with a goal difference of -2.

    This year we're 17th on 31 after 24 with a goal difference of +2.

    Not a lot in it.

    Interesting stat Mr Fish.

Mid table mediocrity beckons, which is absolutely fine by me while we're still under the financial constraints of the CVA. <ok>

Mid-Table is fine at this stage of reconstructing the club <ok>

Agree with above comments - mid table security is fine.

I mean, who wants to be involved in a promotion battle ? :emoticon-0106-cryin <whistle>

Bare in mind, this season we had a rubbish start to the season. Last season we didn't really....

There are two ways of looking at things; think big and risk being disappointed, but think more realistically and you may be pleasantly surprised.

For example, I am sure most of our stripey friends were pleasantly surprised at their race to the top of the table but, as the season progressed perhaps that pleasant surprise started to turn to expectaion, which is only natural. Now the wheels are beginning to wobble and there is a possibility they could end up disappointed. I mean, if you had offered them a top six finish in August, or even a top ten finish, they would have taken it - but that would now be seen by many as failure.

We, on the other hand, have feared a relegation battle or worse and are now pleased at the prospect of mid table obscurity. Funny old thing human nature. <ok>

The last two 'first halfs' of the last two seasons if you follow have ended up with us pretty much in the same position- but by totally different routes. It's a funny old game. I just wonder about our stripey neighbours and their expectations. As you say LFinH, anything other than promotion would now be seen as utter failure after their first half performances. The pressure will now be on them to hold on to what they've got, and as the season progresses, if results don't pick up, it could spell disaster for them. Oh well.....one lives in hope.

Mid-table security? Mid-table obscurity? Unusual expressions! The one more commonly used is mid-table mediocrity!
And yes, I would have settled for that in August, Mr ><((((> ;)
