There've been some real surprises this season, in terms of who the key players have been, with several players performing far better than anyone knew they were capable of.

What would be your team of this season's new stars, and how would they get on against a side of bigger name players ?

How about the following as a side for the big name players to take on ?

    -----------Schmeicel
    Simpson Huth Alderwiereld Rose
    -------------Kante
    Mahrez Dembele Payet
    ------ Ighalo Vardy

Bench : Fuchs, Bertrand, Dier, Drinkwater, Alli, Rashford

    Manager : Pocchetino

Surely Alli is the bigger surprise over Dembele. Dembele started like a train for us and so we knew he had it in him, just took a long time to come back to form.

For me Dembele's been the better player (it's between him and atoby for player of the seawon for me), and Tottenham's most improved player, but yes I take your point, and you might well be right.

I wouldn't necessarily disagree ... and never thought I'd ever include Danny Simpson in such a line-up having watched his performances last season ... but he has perhaps been our mmost improved performer although Big Wes and, in particular, Danny Drinkwater come into that category ... Drinkwater hardly got a game under Pearson last season and his contribution was perhaps summed up in our penultimate game, the 0-0 draw at Sunderland that ensured our survival ... he was use a second half, erode some minutes, substitute (we only needed a draw) and once on the field went about committing foul after foul (none really serious) rather than actually look to win clean ball and take responsibility ... contrast this season where he has been ever present, is now un-droppable and has several of the tabloids advocating an England call up with the Euros in mind ... a remarkable turnaround.

My last comment would be a commendation for Christian Fuchs - since him and Simpson came in our defence has moved to new levels and we now have a string of clean sheets when before his arrival we might still win, but would inevitably concede as well ...

Rashford? He looks a good player but that's a bit much at this point, Ighalo would deserve a place?

I agree he's been solid, Bertrand for Southampton should be in there as a challenge for him.

    Butland
    Simpson Smalling Morgan Bertrand
    Willian Dier Barkley
    Arnautovic Vardy Bolaisi

Only included players that played in league last year so can give a fair comparison to their form last year to this year.

Some good players in there like Smalling/Willian, but form has dramatically improved from last year to this.
