Just out of interest, does anyone know of the last occasion we lost our first four home League games? Certainly can't recall it during my time following the club, maybe one of our older fans can shed some light on the matter ....Anyway, curious see what Mary Poppins, no doubt delirious by his old side's success yesterday makes of it all on MOTD .... Just wonder if ES is considering giving "MP" a ring, with a view to trying to perform another "NE rescue act" .... A bit of a sobering thought perhaps, but then again, desperate times can demand desperate measures ....

well, i'm 55 and have watching SAFC since I was 5, I cannot remember a start like this. But its weird, as I think there is enough in the squad to pick up points in the very near future. I just cannot think of the right manager to do this. For the short term I would have Pulis, I think he would have the squad super organised and get points the ugly way....just don't want that football for long term

It is wierd Nemo...looks like we are in free fall, but it wouldn't surprise me if this team put together 3 or wins quick..At least I hope they do. I actually think we will get something at Swansea..just a hunch

    1976/77

The year that Elliott, Arnott and Rowell were introduced together we had almost Champions form after Christmas and then couldn't take "a gift" from Bob Paisely's Liverpool which brought relegation, we gained four points (no wins) from the first seven games. (source, History of Sunderland AFC, Bob Graham).

Historically 5 teams have had the same start 2 have gone on to survive

Lads, honest thoughts on this season for you ??

It does not look great however its still early doors, and the last couple of games against liverpool and man utd I saw some positives and against a weaker team you might have got some thing.
That lad from Juve jack something
    Looks a talented lad.

We are going to struggle this season
Too even after a decent result yesterday.

The best thing you could do is lose
Di canio great entertainment but a loose cannon.

Who do you want ?? I can see you struggling if ball is given the job As that has Ricky sbragia mk2 written all over it.

I'm also 58 and been through a lot.
I have heard somewhere there are 5 teams been in the same position as us at this stage, only two survived.
I also think we have a stronger squad than last year I would like to see diamanté and robe rage as our two centr halfs

With 31 games remaining and only 6 points between us and safety, it's pure follow to suggest it's all over. There are still 93 points to play for.

I think we were totally doomed under PDC and it's a godsend he has been peddled. We could do worse than letting Poyet put his stamp on us and an attractive style of football but we need a swift turnaround in fortunes and that's why Pulis ( it's a sad admission that our situation is so dire I could view the dogshit football he aspires to being a saviour but he is) should be brought in. Perhaps Bally might step up to first team coach alongside him.

Whatever though, thus announcement has to come today or tomorrow at the very latest, in order to give a new man the 2 weeks to prepare for Swansea.
