Bruce Finds €9M Lifeline Beating Newcastle To Unstoppable Goal Machine, Moussa Sow is a pretty great name. In fact I genuinely hope that this transfer story is true, just to hear what sort of songs are dedicated to the striker.

Our Italian friends at tuttomercatoweb are giving us today some new developments on the proposed transfer of the striker this Summer. Previously it was reported that Newcastle and Sunderland were going head to head for the player, but now it has been reported that Sunderland have taken the lead in the race for the striker.

The French born Senegalese forward was part of the youth academy at Rennes from 2003 until 2006 at which point he broke into the first team. His time with Rennes was not the best really, he spent 4 season with the club and managed just 12 goals in 82 games. When his contract with the club expired last Summer, he signed a deal with Lille , and this season he has been in devastating form. He is currently the top goal scorer in Ligue 1 having notched up 20 goals in 30 games, definitely not to be sniffed at. His goals have guided Lille to top of the pile in France, and they have a great chance of securing the title as the season comes to a close.

Sow has also been in good form at international level having scored 3 goals in 5 games and it his form of the last 12 months that have alerted Premier League clubs.

Clearly Newcastle are in need of a goal scorer, Andy Carroll departed on the last day of the transfer window which made it impossible for him to be replaced. They have enough goals in their side to survive this season, but next term it is fair to say that they will require someone to fire them up the league and I believe Sow can do that.

Great Tyneside rivals Sunderland however are also in desperate need of a striker, the future of Steve Bruce is very much up in the air, and his decision to sell Darren Bent has had a massive impact on their season, there form since has been appalling and if he is to remain in his job next season, he will need a new striker, and Sow would be a good option. Rumours have flown about that Gyan may move this Summer, hopefully that wont happen, but if he does, Sunderland will be in even more desperate need of a striker.

Tuttomercatoweb reckon that Sunderland have now placed a bid for the player leaving Newcastle behind them, the offer is believed to be in excess of £8million, but the exact figure isn’t known. Clearly Alan Pardew could make a move himself, but as things stand it is Sunderland that look favourites to land the explosive striker.

Ha Ha class, he's top quality, (although another african), i'm waiting for further news till i say too much.

Wait for a mag comment, as he was talked about today by them also. seems the two clubs are linked to the same player all to often.

Don't see it as being too much of a problem. We only have Gyan, Sess and Elmo at the minute:

Sess - Benin have got to the finals 3 times recently but have been knocked out immediatly in the first round.
Gyan - Will be going to the finals.
Elmo - Egypt need a miracle to qualify apparently which is shocking considering they've won the last 3 tournaments!
Sow - Will be going to the finals.

We would still have to get another 2 strikers in to cover for them but he'd be an outstanding signing IMO!

Interesting also,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,but lets not get too upbeat, he might get a start at Wigan for all we know. All teams have their agenda, all teams are trying to keep things under wraps till deals are signed sealed delivered, and Wigan have their agenda also, I only used Wigan as an example, nothing else intended.
