So, it would seem the vibe emrging from FP this morning is it is now down to two candidates in the running for our hot seat........... 1/ OGS is the targeted choice, he is the one the owners want, bringing with him his back room staf he appointed at Molde. He has been allowed to talk to POmpey but only aftyer concluding their championship win last night. 2/ Sean O'Driscoll, reported to be the back up if OGS decides to decline the offer to be tabled on Tuesday............ Personally, I would take OGS, young, exciting, has oodles of potential, and although not proven in managerial stakes in England, has played at the highest levels all over the world and under some of the best managers too.....which he has obviously taken into his new career............. Lets see what happens...... PUP, BP
Personally I too would take OGS - we need something to really lift our spirits, and if this is true it's already lifted my spirit. And it explains then why S O'D isn't already in the hot seat seeing as he was interviewed nearly 2 weeks ago. Good one!
I'd happily give OGS his 1st taste of English League Management at Pompey - my only concern would be, that if he does well. that he might be poached too quickly by a premiership outfit! Aside from that the name alone would worry other teams! PUP
I also want OGS to be named Pompey's new manager, although the vibes I am hearing on Merseyside are that SOD is done and dusted. Not sure that OGS's name alone would worry too many opposition players at the moment - unless he came on as a supersub that is!
Looks like it's O'Driscoll. Not my first choice but he is known for good attacking football. Remember Donny last season at Fratton? Has gained promotion with two clubs, has much experience in this league and hates Cotterill. If it is to be, then we should all get behind him an give our unconditional support.
Not sure OGS is out of it - and if he brought his backroom staff from Molde "Molde's first title was secured with help from two other former United coaches, Mark Dempsey and Richard Hartis, who Solskjaer brought into his backroom staff upon being appointed." = I certainly wouldn't complain! But as thee say Funkdaddy - whoever it is will have my full support! PUP
Most papers are saying Sean O'Driscoll is just about a done deal - however - here's a link that says something different http://www.shoot.co.uk/news/latest_article/C49championshipsolskjaer_edges_closer_to_pompey
I'd take either. O'Driscoll is good with teams on a tight budget and plays attractive football. He did well at Doncaster & Bournemouth. Solskjaer is clearly a very talented young manager, who has some great potential links and will get us attacking well. Perhaps there is a chance O'Driscoll would be willing to be assistant to the inexperience Ole? Maybe with a clause in his contract so he is free to move when someone else offers him a managerial job? Or would that be too costly on the wage front?
