I logged on to comment on another good point gained against a difficult team, and I cannot believe the negativity swamping our board ... Byram is rubbish and needs to be sold, Wood is a rugby player, Dallas should have been subbed, Rosler is clueless ... on and on and on What the fcuk is going on? Only 12 short months ago we were trying to avoid looking at the Hock in our dugout as he did his best to destroy us ... Rosler is not a fool, he is well thought of within the game, and we are looking so much better this season than we have for a long while ... last season Burnley would have thrashed us at home, and we would have lost difficult away ties at Reading (after an extra-time away game) and Bristol City (away night games always favour the home team, and Leeds were the ONE BIG GAME they were looking forward to and desperately wanted to win) We are playing with so much more belief and determination, and we have become much more difficult to beat ... four games unbeaten on the trot in the Championship is not an easy feat, especially with two tough away fixtures in there ... it is clear we need a creative, attacking midfielder, someone prepared to get forward and run beyond the strikers ... Forestieri may well be that player, and getting the extra runner from deep coming onto the strikers will make a huge difference in getting Leeds onto the front foot more often Rosler knows this, his "Heavy Metal" football relies on getting forward quickly and creating pressure ... the football that Uwe wants to play is borrowed from the successful Dortmund team, and they had a Number 10 who joined up play off the strikers, allowing wide men room to cut inside and put pressure on the centre backs ... Lewandowski scored so many of his goals through getting space running into the channels and also in the six-yard box (carbon copy of Wood's goal yesterday) ... you can see what Rosler wants to achieve, he just needs the balance and this means two more signings ... the key thing is he's clearly worked hard on the defence, and now he can focus further up the park Leeds are improving all the time, we just need to fix two positions, Attacking Midfielder and Winger ... news is we are in talks with Forestieri (bid accepted) and may be close to getting NEC Nijmegen's wide man Limbombe (he was left out of their game against Ajax yesterday because he is keen on joining Leeds) ... if we can get both of these then we will have balance, and that will give us more confidence to play forward quickly I can see us being very, very good with this potential line-up: Silvestri Byram Bamba Cooper (Bellusci) Taylor Adeyemi (Cook/Mowatt/Phillips) Murphy Dallas Forestieri Limbombe Wood Murphy can keep the ball and find the pass ... Adeyemi can protect the CBs ... Forestieri can link play and get into the opposition box ... Dallas and Limbombe can hug the touchline and keep the FBs honest and further away from their CBs which creates space in the channels allowing Wood opportunities to lose his marker, and once the opposition defence is fixed on Wood and the midfield runner the wide boys can start cutting inside as well as getting onto the back post for deep crosses (Dallas did this well against Burnley, making Darikwa look like a mug) ... Rosler's plan is a good one, and with the right personnel it will work and cause damage in the Championship ... the key is that Rosler's 4-2-3-1 (4-3-3 if you must) has a thought out reason behind it, and isn't simply being played just because As for our players, we don't really have any dreadful ones left in our squad ... Doukara is still finding his feet in the Championship, and clearly is not a wide player but a Centre Forward, and that is where he should play when he comes on ... Antenucci clearly has some quality, it's his temperament that is questionable as he can disappear in games and also is not a wide man ... Wootton simply hasn't had a chance to play a string of games at CB and he's still young, so can't call him useless, plus he shone at Rotherham in this division which means he can do it ... Cooper is class, he has a good touch and can make a pass, and is a leader ... Silvestri is still a baby and will get better, he has the ability for sure ... Byram is flipping quality, which is why Prem clubs are taking a hard look at him, so I find it ridiculous that people are writing him off ... Dallas is a game changer, as he proved yesterday, enough said ... as for Wood (he has an excellent touch btw), if he does nothing every game but score a goal so what, and this boy can be the next Viduka once the team settles and starts playing to his strengths (I remember Viduka missing plenty of headers and sticking a lot of shots over the bar) ... we know that Mowatt/Phillips/Cook can play but they still need to build their stamina, so rotating them may be the answer while they continue to learn Am I a lot more optimistic than August 2014? You fcuking bet I am!!!!!! We have signed some very good players who are already making a difference ... we've brought in some young 'uns who may become good players for us ... our Academy is a well-oiled machine with more talent on the way ... we have a manager who's organised and wants to be a winner without all the politics and bulltwang we had last season ... we have Adam Pearson steadying the ship ... Cellino has dug deep into his pockets to clear debts and finance signings, and he looks a lot more focused and determined to succeed THIS season Top six? It's still a possibility, and come Christmas it wouldn't surprise me if it had become a probability, because looking at other so-called "big" clubs in this division, Leeds have nothing to fear as long as we maintain a positive mindset and we believe, because belief is 90% of the battle "It's not always the stronger and faster man who wins ... the man who thinks he can eventually will" Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Yeah mate, I keep telling Mighty & TC to keep calm, everything will be fine, we're unbeaten in the league, give 'em time things will click into place, and we can all March on Together to the promised land where we belong
That's what I like about you OLOF, you call it straight as you see it [emoji106] Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Afternoon all. Fine thread Billy. I think yesterday showed that now we have choice between Byram, Cook, Adeymi, Mowatt, Dallas, Murphy, Philips' chances of getting in the squad are going to be limited. We lack creativity in midfield that I hope Murphy can provide. If we can be a bit more creative, someone is going to be on the end of a hammering.
I can say the same about yourself Billy and before anyone comes on saying "but we've been waiting over ten years, we've every right to be impatient" i'm talking about Roslers tenure, lets give it time before throwing the teddy out of the Pram, steady progress is being made If you wanna cry like a bitch about how ****e your club is, how crap your players are, go support Millwall Now, those poor ****ers have every right to moan about how ****e they are and how they're going backwards
The wallies must be the most patient ****ers around They've been waiting since the 19th century to win another Dockers cup
I don't think you'd find anyone on here who would dispute that we're in a much better position than we were 12 months ago, the 'negative' amongst us are just being realistic with regards to what we've seen. We haven't dominated any teams, and (perhaps Burnley aside) every team we've played has been pretty dire. We still lose the midfield battle, we're not clinical enough, players are being played out of position (Wootton at DM ), we don't retain possession well enough and we can not maintain a lead to save our lives. I'm more than willing to give Rosler some time, but he's going to have to do a lot to win some of the fans over: no wins in five, given that the standard of every team we faced was particularly poor doesn't make for great reading. I'm glad Cellino's spending money and happy to spend it on proven Championship players (or at the very least players with British league experience). It's a big improvement on last season off the pitch. My worry is that on the pitch we don't look any better, even with the addition of the width we were lacking last year. If Moore, Limbombe and Forestieri all join, and we go out and bring in the experienced CM we need, I'll start to believe top ten and perhaps even a play off tilt is a possibility. Fact is though, despite how excited people were with the initial signings, we're still a mid-table side at best at the moment. 3 or 4 big hitters like those mentioned signing, coupled with a marked improvement on the pitch and I'm sure myself and the other 'negative' fans will begin to see some light at the end of the tunnel
kiwi, you can't say the teams we've played are dire, because they're not ... Bristol and Burnley both beat "good" teams yesterday (Boro and Brentford, promotion contenders) which says a lot ... Wednesday were very well organised by a good manager, and they are going to win a lot of games this season ... we are looking good, and there's lots to be positive about ... the biggest thing for me is how we keep going for 90 minutes, and we will only get better ... as has been stated in a previous comment by Boggers, someone is going take a beating from us soon Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
I must admit, before this weekend I would have said we failed to beat poor sides but this weekends games were a bit of an eye opener and maybe it will be close at the top. As things stand I can't see us being in the mix, I wouldn't change anything though unless we have funds to bring in more quality. Expectations were sky high because of the new signings and off field improvement, realistically we have played catch up this season and IF Cellino doesn't lose patience It will be next season that I expect us to challenge. Last season we got it wrong with so many players and loans, if Wood is the only disappointment this term I will accept that, I agree with Kiwi in that I can see him netting 15 or so, not good enough for top 6 but better than a Sharp and Morrison. Murphy improved after a tricky season and a half, maybe some of these players need a little more time to settle, Antenucci certainly looks better to me this term.
shut up ya fooking twat. difference between Leeds fans and Wall fans is we dont believe in fairies no win in 5 games lads (and rising) means youre fooking ****e
see its that believing in fairies thing again you have only 4 points but going up we have 4 points and going down
The truth is Weaky that we have earned four good points, and we are just two wins off the top ... you have four points against poor teams and simply don't look as if you are going to threaten Lge One this season ... only fairy I believe in is called Moro, or Moron if you insist Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Not even mystic meg can tell how the season will pan out all I know is that we were losing to a fluke goal but came back fighting that will do for me.I still think that Byrams head has been turned and that the new signings will be paid for by his transfer I would like to see the back of Ajose Wootton and poor Sloth who seems to have been lost in the wilderness Of all the teams so far one stands out to me Charlton thay never give up scoring in the 96 minute and have scored and drawn at Derby and Forest away so they are the dark horses Wood and Dallas will only get better once the team gels
