If Mario Balotelli can get a thread this gentle man deserves one. He has been a loyal servant
to the club. Brendan Rodgers just said he has a future with Liverpool.
    I think he deserves this.<applause><applause><applause><applause><applause>.

I think in the end..... we are light in the area so we can't afford just to ship out.

but he's not really up to it but when europa rolls round he will be vital IMO

Showed he still has a part to play.

Unless someone else is coming in, we need depth.

  5. Said for a long time that Lucas should be playing, before Woy arrived in fact. Nothing as changed!

Stay or go he deserves a huge reaction from the fans. He has been a model player for the club. I hope there is a staff position for him at Anfield one day.

Unfortunately since then there has been one huge change and that is his form, he has not been the same since, well i forget what injury it was but its been a while. Some people are getting all excited about last night but last night was set up perfect for him, ie playing inbetween/behind can and millner two very industrious and defensively able players who did a lot of his job for him, it also helped that we started to play really deep with about 10-15 yards between our two lines of four leaving very little ground for him to cover.
In the first half when the game was more open he was exposed a little more and it showed up his lack of pace and deficiencies in his passing but people are forgetting about that because of how exciting the game was.

That said and done, last night might be a sign that he's returning to his once brilliant form and given our current squad, if we are faced with a tough game and one of the other three (can hendo milner) are injured then he is the best option, so I would only be happy to see him go if we get a replacement.

I'm a fan of the lad as everyone knows I also disagree with the way some assess his attributes. If he can stay fit he'll be an important player for us this season, we need players who's heart is in it.

  9. He made a massive difference when played last season too. He's not the same as he was but he's still good and our best option!

I think he should grow a moustache like the Liverpool greats of old.

Still think he is so important to us and should be one of the first names on the team sheet.

You could argue that some of this is because he hasn't had much game time to get his fitness up.

Yesterday he was good and was no doubt helped by the fact he had 2 energetic midfielders in front who did a lot of the closing down leaving him to maintain his position and tidy up. It worked well and I think we're all missing one thing, no one has congratulated Rodgers for getting that right.

I I think in other games where we are more open, that's where he'll struggle based on previous form. He doesn't have the nobility he did so he may get exposed (unless he's fitter now, we'll have to see).

Rodgers said himself, he's our best DM and in big games where we need one he'll be there. But I think we all know and Rodgers pretty much admitted himself that a lot of the time he won't be playing a specific DM instead just have that holding player be it Milner can or hendo.

Id like him to stay as think he does have something to offer but like Rodgers said, he can't guarantee him a game every week so if Lucas is happy to be part of that squad rotation the brilliant, but if not then who can begrudge him a move?

I think he is still a very noble man <grr>

Milner will never be a holding/defensive midfielder, but he is a very good attacking one <ok>

  18. Its all about getting the best team on the pitch, if Lucas needs two energetic midfielders alongside to offer the best midfield then so be it. Just like Lovren needing solid players around him.

sure... and then you get to a certain level and they still aint up to it.

The thing is... theres two ways to look at this

    1. Get the best out of what you have now.

    2. Build something capable of getting where you want to go.

For me you MIGHT be right currently (though i will still contend last year yes lucas in with can henderson was better than anything with gerrard not bothered) but i think can holding and henderson milner in fornt is better and will be proven to be so

BUT Lucas etc etc just aint up to the very top... we are a long way off that but unless rodgers ponies up a better option (which his 4231 system was not) then its madness not to use whats in front of us better.

If henderson is out for a month say... then lucas must plan and can must shift forward IMO. if henderson is fit play can holding... thats the best we will have on offer

  20. If you want to play FF then yes, all our players could be improved on. However, I'm looking at our current squad. Until we have a better option, Lucas shouldn't be going anywhere.
