Little Granville, an amateur club in France, (located in the department of Manche just over 30 mins from where I live) reached the quarter finals of the French equivalent of the FA Cup. They were drawn at home to Olympique de Marseille but, as they were playing a "Premiership" club they had to play at a "Premier" club's stadium. The game was played at Caen, just over an hour from where I live. 20,000 stadium sold out in hours. Fans from all over Manche turned out to support the little club.. Amanda went with some friends and it was crazy. About 500 fans from Marseille and the rest were all supporting Granville. End to end stuff played at a furious pace with Granville playing out of their skins and matching Marseille all over the pitch. The noise was deafening throughout the whole game with a very long standing ovation. If some clips get uploaded I'll add them Apparently the atmosphere was electrifying. Score Half time 0-0 Full time 0-1 Ref and linesmen gave everything to Marseille and nothing to Granville Examples. The last defender brought down a Granville striker with a great goal scoring chance and he got a yellow. The ball went out for a corner with the ball and defender well over the line, right under the nose of the linesman and he let play continue. We've seen that before somewhere.
