When we sold Earnshaw and Etuhu. I was looking at our historical data (it's been a very quiet morning at work...) on transfermarkt. This year we have sold: Grant Holt: £2.6m Vaughan: £765k Jed Steer could apparently net us as much as £2m (which is what we are alleged to be demanding), though I imagine that unfortunately it will be nowhere near. Perhaps £750k. Barnett sounds on the verge of being sold fo £500k. That means total sales of upwards of £4.6m, basically covering the purchase of Hooper. Just goes to show that even though they are players we want to sell, we are netting considerable sums for them, which is a massive step forward. Another interesting thing that I noticed from this browsing is that Lambert spent £3.5m more on players in our first season in the Prem than Hughton did last year (I don't include RvW because although out of last year's budget, he obviously wasn't playing, though you could reduce the difference by £1.2m because Garrido effectively signed permanently).
I appreciated your interesting and insightful post Rob. We have done well with the players we've sold, we are still the most financially stable club in the EPL and we have made some great signings. I think the club has been very shrewd, hopefully we can inject the revenue into a player in the January transfer window if we need it.
Well it is Rob, in that you have started a thread that died at birth. My experience in contrast is that my posts kill thriving threads dead. So that's it for this one!
I saw somewhere on twitter earlier that alongside the fees for Vaughan and Holt, the points we gained in those last two games against West Brom and Man Citeh mean that Hooper is now effectively paid for. I could do McNally's job. Just simple maths
