Now I'm probably going to get criticise for being too negative but I'm annoyed and going to write this anyway. I'm sure I'll feel more positive later. Discuss the title. Can't help but draw comparison with the defeat to Posh last season except with conceded five this time instead of four. Worsened by the fact on how much our team has improved.
Sheep! If it's playoffs, then it's another Championship season to come. This comment by a Charlton supporter on their board should be nailed to the dressing room door on Saturday. "Cardiff top of the league - your having a laugh. Worst team I've seen at the Valley this year."
From what I've seen of the opposition, I can't see City finishing outside the top 6. As far as the auto spots are concerned, I also can't see two other teams who possess an overall package that's better than ours. Having said that, we have to utilise what we have to it's best advantage. The current thinking at the club (Malky in other words) leads me to think we'll employ the "more of the same" principle in the hope he'll be proved right. Self belief shouldn't be mistaken for stubbornness. He either will be proved right, or we'll be several points adrift of the autos by the New Year and playing catch up. Someone, or maybe two clubs will make a break before long at the top - I hope one of them will be us. Relying on others to slip up around us could be like Custer waiting for the cavalry. Unfortunately, no one is coming to help us in this division - we'll have to do it ourselves.
Sparks Malky's self belief for away games is that the teams he puts out and tactics he adopts are good enough. As we know to our cost that is not the case. I think he is intelligent enough not to get totally entrenched in his self belief and that changes need to be made. However, he did that with playing 2 up top in the last 2 games and we came off just as badly. 2 big tests coming up in the next home games and while it is still early season, if these go wrong, i.e. we don't get a miniumum of 4 points, then a dramatic rethink will be needed (hopefully combined with the retrun of Bellers, Smith and Mutch) to get us back on track.
Regarding the title 'This has play-offs written all over it....." I like you Blue Sheep, you are an optimist. How many teams who finish in the top six have lost three games from winning positions before Xmas? Losing four games in a season from from being in front was what made DJ such a poor manager (in some people's eyes) the year before he was sacked.
going on the thread heading.......yep id say your a bit negative with a bit of a kneejerk chaser 2 finish. calm down lads a defeat away isnt the end of the world..<i hope>
Its not just the one game though Aber. It is a continuing trend of losing away badly to sides who (if we are as good as we like to think we are) we should really be beating and how long before the poor away form transfers itself to the home games - we will get an answer to that on Saturday. There are some very worrying signs, not least that we are shipping goals at a rate not seen against us in recent years. When did we last concede 5? Answers on a post card to...............
tbh dude the game is set-up so defences look crap these days.......its a joke and one thing is for sure u will never get an arsenal style backline like tony adams and co again.....unless they revert back 2 on the pitch is interfering with play end of>>>>>>school boy defending is cool these days methinks. ps what if our home form transfers 2 our away form>>>>>>\.
Good question Aber but the mood of the team will follow form and after last night???? Unless we are of a totally different mindset at home but even that confidence will be brought into question by last night. Malky has some work to do on that front.
i agree dude,we have work 2do its a long hard season and at the moment im happy with our standing in the league, lets hope we dont run out of gas at the business end this time and we be fine im sure
