A ‘pick-up artist’ who ‘said rape should be legal’ is organising events in the UK and people are not happy.

Daryush Valizadeh’s followers are due to hold meetings on Saturday across the globe, which include the UK cities of London, Manchester and Glasgow.

But if Roosh V’s critics get their way some of the summits, which were announced on his website, won’t be happening.

Self-described feminist Cat Boyd has already got more than 10,000 signatures on a petition she set up this morning to ban his meetings in Scotland.

‘RooshV, a militant pro-rape pick-up artist is holding gatherings for his followers in Glasgow and Edinburgh,’ she wrote.

‘This makes our cities unsafe for at least half the population. Promoting rape is hate speech, and should be treated as such.’

Mr Valizadeh’s most controversial comments came in a 2015 blog post titled ‘How to stop rape’.

‘Let’s make rape legal,’ he wrote.

‘Less women will be raped because they won’t voluntarily drug themselves with booze and follow a strange man into a bedroom, and less men will be unfairly jailed for what was anything but a maniacal alley rape.’

He will reportedly be at one of the Australian meetings after announcing he’s travelling to the country on his Twitter account.

Meetings are set to take place in 43 nations.
