I'm hoping this is because CP is like Curbs, he does things the right way-quietly and not through the media

    Say we didn't sign anyone?

How do you think we'd cope?

    I personally think we'd be comfortably mid-table.

Although long-term it may set us back/plateau us - it would limit our development obviously.

I think it would limit the clubs development short term, but if we didnt buy anyone I would be expecting youngsters (e.g. Poyet, Cousins, Mambo) to be given a bigger role in the first team.

I think this would be long term gain, especially with Hart in charge of the youth squad I think we could get quite a conveyer belt of young good players through our system, so not buying anyone would not worry me at all.

    Anyway who needs the premiership;)

Having a smallish first-team squad in order to allow a place for our Academy products to come through has not been part of the club's thinking for many many years. What invariably happens is that they get sent out on loan, older players are brought in, they establish their place in the pecking order and there is no place for the youngsters when their loan expires.
The 3 players you mention are interesting. Cousins to my mind has shown enough to be considered back-up at RB, but if we buy an older player in as cover the familiar pattern will be repeated. IMO Poyet is the best young player we have- an old head on young shoulders. Mambo-surely it's now or never, and if we bring in another CB he may as well stay at Ebbsfleet.
You can have the best Academy in the world, but at the end of the day it's up to the manager to pick a team to win the game, and if he doesn't think the Academy players will achieve that it's tough luck.
