Liverpool want to break up the joint TV deal and allow clubs to arrange their own TV deals for foreign broadcasting. Discuss

The strength of the PL since it's conception in the early 90's has been built around the philosophy that all TV money should be distributed evenly throughout the division. This has allowed the PL to remain competitive, not only within itself, but also in European competition and in the transfer market.

Ian Ayre argues, "What we are doing is disadvantaging ourselves against top European clubs." TBH I think that's bull****, there is no evidence to support this whatsoever. PL clubs are generally the biggest spenders on wages and fees, as a result we regularly field 2 teams in the CL semis every year.

What people mustn't forget is that we have the most popular and competitive league competition in football. I feel this is almost completely down to this philosophy of splitting TV money equally. Thankfully, there are no dead rubbers in english league football and the same cannot be said for our rivals La Liga and Serie A.

Competitive in the sense that either of the Manchester teams could win it?

No, in the sense that we have no meaningless matches. Anyone can beat anyone. How much worse would it be if they could negotiate their own TV deals?

Sooner it happens the better. They can all **** off, the greedy ****s.

Sadly with a 14 majority vote required in the premier league, it won't.

Psycho, you think being able to negotiate individual TV deals is a good thing? Look at the mass bankruptcy in Spain and Italy because of it...

"In Spain, Barcelona and Real Madrid are able to negotiate individual contracts."

And how many teams in Spain are realistically able to win the title? If individual contracts were allowed to be negotiated the gap between the top five or six and the rest of the league would increase to the point where you'd have Man Utd/Man City/Chelsea/Liverpool/Arsenal and probably Spurs effectively playing in a separate league to the other 14 sides.

Of course that would make it easier to establish the European league that all the big teams want.

I think it would be a good thing for a club like us, but the smaller clubs would struggle.

It would be good for Newcastle.

You've got loads of fans who are happy to pay a fortune to watch a club that's never won anything and never will.

This would work well for Scotland where Rangers are being dragged down by the dregs. Even then I wouldn't agree with it as there are better ways of addressing the poor standard in the SPL.

English clubs already have more money than a horse can shite so why are they trying to get even more?

    Greed really is killing football.

No one has done more to drag Scottish football into the gutter than you bunch of ****s.

Rioting in Manchester, banned in Europe for sectarian singing, sending bombs to football managers and refusing to give your old Queen her tax money.

And you're just a west coast of Scotland football club with no further appeal. Those were the words of your ex-Director <ok>

    • 0.033% of fans there were involved in those scuffles (I'm not going to call that a riot)
    • Our club or fans have never been banned from Europe for singing
    • Do you have proof a Rangers supporter sent those bombs? We all know its not just Rangers fans that hate the tit
    • The tax case has still to be heard, I'll wait until then before speculating
    • You're gay

    - One of the blokes who sent the bomb was pictured wearing a Rangers top
    - You still avoided paying tax regardless of the outcome
    - You're more Liam Fox than me

They should just do everyone a favour and scrap the spl. Their best teams can't even make it to the group stage of the waffa cup <laugh>
