    From the BBC:

BBC Scotland has gained access to the SPL's 100-page strategic plan, which includes plans for a 10-team SPL.

It shows a desire to merge with the Scottish Football League in the summer - and a cross-border competition.

Personally, I'd quite enjoy this. The League Cup is becoming a little pointless imo so opening it up with our northern neighbours might just make things a little more interesting.

    Thoughts?

I sense problems, Could you imagine Plymouth vs Aberdeen for example? It would make things more interesting I suppose.

The league cup has lost its credability, inviting them north of the border in will only damage it further and possibly beyond repair

Wouldn't really be a 'league' cup then. I wouldn't mind it though, just rename it the Britain/British Cup instead.

Being in Aberdeen, I naturally agree with this and I think everyone up here would share my view on that.

It would certainly be good to have people south of the border up here and it would boost attendances. I can see the thinking behind this idea <ok>

I like the idea of this, though it may be one step from having Rangers and Celtic in the English football league.

Doubt most of them would trouble us, I could only see Rangers & Celtic doing anything as I don't rate the rest of them.

I am not so sure. I think a few of the clubs could survive a year in the championship. An away trip to the likes of Hearts would be a tricky little fixture, although I agree, we should have enough to beat most of them home and away!

I think it's a great idea. The English League cup is ****, it's pointless. This would make it more interesting, we'd get to see some different matches for a change. I'd love to play Celtic in a competitive fixture rather than meaningless pre-season friendlies all the time.

Would also make the League cup a bit more original, as far as I'm concerned it's just a **** version of the FA Cup that no one really cares about and less teams can win it. Good idea IMO.

I think the League Cup has regained some credibility in recent seasons with many of the bigger teams fielding more competitive sides. It's not really like 4/5 years ago where it's the PL teams youth sides. I think many PL clubs have a desire to win it. I'd love it if we got to the League Cup Final and had a day at Wembley.

Not sure how anyone outside of Rangers and Celtic would cope though. They are both Championship standard really. Can you imagine Hamilton v Chelsea? It may boost the finances of some smaller Scottish clubs though but don't think it would happen.

Is Anglo-Celt **** really that big in the British Isles still?

I tend to see it as racism here in North America. Everyone knows about the issue and in some cases it's very real, but 90% of the population just gets on with it.
