Comical as that is - and not wishing to start a religion battle again - it's funny how all [or most] of the top players and managers are all very religious, including our new boss <ok>

and I do realise this comment has nothing to do with anything - just an observation.
****ing loons :D

We don't have the players to even attempt a title challenge. In this league you need two outstanding players and great ones around them. For our levels of great/good it is:

Great:
Coutinho
Sturridge
Sakho

Good:
Lucas
Firmino
Can
Hendo
Can

Look at the teams before who have won it and the difference in quality is massive. Even in our best years we couldn't compete.

@Rubbersoul's 2 outstanding players:

Man City: Aguero (injured), De Bruyne
Leicester: Vardy, Mahrez
Man Utd: De Gea
Arsenal: Sanchez (injured), Ozil
Tottenham: Kane, Eriksen
Liverpool: Sturridge, Coutinho (injured)

Our players match anyone else's, all depends on injuries

Our great players are too inconsistent and one can't play a whole season.

Fair to say you could add Silva and Kompany to City's list. Hart too as a very good if not a great.

Good choice.

No doubt our best players are coutinho and Sturridge. But they are not in the same league as the Aguero or the Silvas of this world. They are also too inconsistent. That is why I think the height of our ambition should be top 4. Talking of the title is just setting ourselves up to fail.

Aim for the title and fail and get top 4
aim for top 4 and fail, nothing...

this is is lfc, everyone should be aiming for the title (and winning every game) until it's impossible to do.

As Shankly said, aim for the ceiling and you'll stay on the floor, aim for the sky and you'll reach the ceiling.

Sure, ...as a medium or long term vision. You have to be realistic and think about the squad and the situation. Any team can say we are challenging for the title but few have a reasonable chance to win it. Let's go a good home run first and see whether the team can overcome different styles first before we say we are going for the title.

We can certainly win the league - not because we're amazing but everyone else is also inconsistent. It's unpredictable - which means we have a chance as well.

Believe.

We're far too inconsistent, let's not place unrealistic expectations on both the team and Klopp. We're in a good moment and confidence is growing, objectives/expectations change as result, but for me this season has been a write off since the early weeks, clearly there's now a lot to play for but let's just enjoy this season for what it is and that's the time period for Klopp to stamp his ethos and philosophy and work out who has a future here.. Whatever happens, happens, but first and foremost let's smash some ****ers from now till the end of the season and just appreciate the fact we are currently in very safe hands. <ok>

Too many things need to go in our favour.

Aim title objective top 4 may look like we have nothing to lose by aiming high. But once the title is out of reach the disappointment may be detrimental. How many times have we seen that?

Seeing the title as a bonus to me makes sense.

Why not? The players and Klopp should have the same expectations that they are going to win the league.

If they don't believe it's possible shouldn't be at the club.

Just because they should be aiming for it doesn't mean that they will get wbuse / sacked if they don't make it.

Aiming ng for too 4 suggests you're happy to lose some games.... That isn't the attitude to have.

Sometime luck can play some part. I am not saying we have the players. Luck deserted us two years ago because Brendan Rodgers failed to
manage the game against Chelsea. We were only two points behind City at the end. Lady luck we are talking about<ok>

I don't get this

Sturridge has outscored Aguero every time he's fit, and they're both as injury prone

Silva is great but this season is contribution of 1 goal, 6 assists hardly puts him in another class to Coutinho's 5 goals 3 assists

Kompany has also been missing a lot this season

Yes it is quite unlikely we will win the title and top 4 would be a great achievement, but this league is so ****ed up that if you're aiming for 4th place you might as well aim for 1st and see what happens

I think you are like most of us getting carried away. No one is saying we should be happy to lose or draw matches. Or we should stop trying because we are in 4th or 3rd. That is not how players work.

Teams go fir the title when they are in a position to go for it. Arsenal and City can realistically say they are going for it because they are in position. On the other hand (as an extreme example) we would have a good laugh if mourinho said he was aiming to win the title this season. <ok>

They can aim that's fine, it's dangerous when the aim of fans shifts to winning the title.. Especially among us reds, we're a fickle bunch the best of times. I am happy for us to lose some games because I respect that the inconsistency that we will inevitably experience is part of the transition under Klopp and necessary for our long-term future. RE your point about being sacked - that does apply to to the players.. Drop in form, many will bay for them to leave/dropped .. They're all playing for their future now.

It is about expectation. Expect to win the title and be disappointed if you finish 2nd. Expect to get top 4 and you'll celebrate if you win the title. Can't everyone see the huge difference?

That's why Klopp is saying that those who are talking about the title are mad:laugh:. He may be thinking differently in his inside mind. He would love
to win it in his first year also.:smiley-finger007::smiley-finger007:
