I'm not going to slate the lad because I think he's served a purpose, and he came to us on a free, although I am beginning to wonder what the situation would be if we went up. I'm fairly sure that SB wouldn't want to lose/get rid of him but my concern is obviously whether he would be up to PL standard, and, more worryingly, whether SB would still appear to want to find a place for him in the match day squad.

No way am I advocating Ehab getting involved in picking the team but he and Pappa have put a LOT of money on the line in a serious attempt to get us promoted. My concern is, and maybe I'm wrong, maybe I'm not, that Ehab, or other members of the hierarchy, would look at Alex in a PL match day squad and really start to wonder whether that's in the best interests of the club and/or the Allam's investment, and if he doesn't how that would go down with, and how he would broach the situation, with Steve Bruce.

This is not an attempt to create problems that aren't there, many posters already appear to believe the inclusion of AB is already a problem, as highlighted in the current thread of team selection against Forest, in a Championship match day squad, it's more of a question that I'm putting out to see what other posters think would be the end game if this situation was to arise.

I see you sat there with a wry smile Lambo by the way ;)

Nobody on here has can say for sure as to who will be and who wont be PL standard.

I heard all this rubbish back in 2008 about will the likes of Myhill, Dawson, Ashbee and even Barmby be good enough for the PL ?

Lets get there first and then see what happens. For what its worth i think most of our squad are good enough for the current standard of the PL but we will need to sign more goal scorerers for sure. But for now lets just enjoy the ride of the last 9 games of the season. Its a long summer to debate who comes in to add to what is already a quality squad imo.

Bruce isnt stupid, he has a very good idea of who would be good enough and who isnt already I would think.

It became painfully obvious how many people jumped on the hate Alex Bruce bandwagon during the Burnley game thread on here. Once Sky showed how well he was doing at half time not a ****ing peep. Did his job well.

Fathi seems to get better and better the longer he doesnt play.

AB was brought in to do a job. He's done that job, excellently. He has exceeded a lot of people's expectations, and has been a vital, integral part of our success this season.

After all this, when we're back in the PL, anyone who seriously thinks SB is going to want players in the squad who aren't up to the rigours and challenges of the PL are, to be frank, ****ing stupid.

I'm quite sure Alex would love to play in the PL, much like Deano did, but he's still capable of playing week in week out for another Championship side, like Leicester, and giving them something they don't currently have, which is of course, a spine. If he can serve a purpose in the PL, then I am certain SB will make the right decision.

He as had some top games this season, made the odd mistake but overall very good, he as that bit of aggression in him which sometimes you need, forget premier league talk there is still 9 games to go, these type of threads we can talk about if we go up, i don,t know about anyone else but i have noticed that the one's who presume we are going to go up are shocked when we lose and are the first to come on here moaning how crap we are and that's it for another season. Regarding today its against an inform side with a good backing so we will have to be at our best and that includes the fans not just the team, its a very important game with a break coming up, COME ON CITY

Surely it will help our cause if we start slagging off one of our own players on here. Then hope he makes a mistake in the first five minutes so we can start getting on his back, booing him abusing him?

As soon as AB was brought in he was slated, mostly by people who had never seen him kick a ball. He proved them all wrong and has been excellent. A few mistakes granted, but no more than anyone else.
Just get off his back.

Sorry - don't want to be rude - but that post is just funny.

Please, do your wondering in private, for everyone's sake.

Do you think SB is a clueless halfwit??

I think it's unfair to say that Hull fans have slated Bruce Jnr. Despite many believing initially that he was a poor signing, he was given a chance by the majority of fans and many have complimented his strong performances in defence over the course of the season. It's playing Bruce Jnr in midfield that many of us, including myself, have a problem with, as he simply isn't cut out for the role.

Sky where completely wrong about him in the first half, not sure what they where on about. He passed the ball forward twice in the first half, won one tackle and gave the ball away 7 times. I know as i counted. I watched it with a Man City fan who from a completely neutral perspective said he was awful in that first half and had no idea what Sky where on about.....

In the second half he was far better, thats probably why no-one said a word not because you and sky where completely wrong.

Nice quote from Neil Warnock

“Every team could use someone who knows how to play in every position, never misplaces a pass or makes a mistake. The only problem is, it’s hard to make him put down his hot dog and come down from the stand... or he already has a career in journalism.”

Agreed, i am not saying i want that from Bruce, i just want a proper defensive midfield player not an Evans, not a Bruce. You can't deny what i said about Bruce first half he won one tackle and made one pass, Sky need to show something, so they picked him despite his poor performance.
