So did anyone see this little stick of dynamite with Trevor Phillips last night? Or as he in someways concluded, is the meer title too Incendiary to touch lest we be labelled racists. If you missed it, I'd look it up on 4 OD just highlighted how paralysed with fear we have all become of being branded racist for challenging anything, it was highlighted particulaly well by the recent grooming in Rotherham. Simply unbelievable that those shocking crimes were simply not delt with because of fear of offending the community from which ~90% of the offenders came from! Bah!
I saw a few minutes of it, seemed a very insightful program, made intelligently. The bit I saw certainly highlighted some of the unintended negative consequences of the fear of being seen as racist, and the fact that individuals and groups play on this fear to further their own criminal and immoral activities.
This is a touchy subject GM and one that needs to be responded to carefully. I have always been of a liberal persuasion and have broadly welcomed the immigration to our shores believing that it added cultural dimensions and of course the newcomers were taking jobs that quite frankly the indiginous wouldn't touch with a bargepole. The cycle has now turned fully and we have a situation where we have too many people for one thing and that we have lost the very positive things that attracted people here in the first place. I did not see the programme you refer to but know Mr. Phillips and his views are largely at odds with mine. I am sick of the racist tags and find the whole thing insulting in the main. Particularly Muslims seem to want to rule the world and I find them hypocritical and single minded. Try living in Leicester, you will soon tire of them!
