1: The Man Utd defeat looked fairly routine on paper, and it looked fairly routine on grass too. And not in a good way either. 2: If the home side has ever had an easier afternoon than that, weâd be genuinely interested in hearing about it. City not only failed to lay a glove on them, they rarely looked interested in even trying to. Itâs not really clear what City were trying to do, because all that happened is that Jelavic was desperately isolated up front while the midfield wandered around to minimal effect and the defence alternated between passing the ball straight to Man U players and then waving them merrily through. 3: Apropos of gloves, stop wearing them please, Hatem Ben Arfa. It was a mild November day in England, not midwinter in Scandinavia. And any more performances as rank as that may see him wearing gloves elsewhere â on a day when few impressed, he really stood out as being poor. 4: Mind you, glove-wearing midfielders have nothing on half-and-half scarf wearers. On anyone over the age of about 15, theyâre utterly revolting. 5: Everton away in midweek will be unbelievably difficult. Actually, scratch that â itâll be believably difficult. Weâve not taken anything from there in the Premier League era and weâre hardly in the form to do so now. 6: City are now as short as 2/1 to be relegated. The likelihood remains that thereâll be three teams poorer than us to keep us safe; but werenât we supposed to have loftier aims than mere survival this season? 7: Someone made an interesting point regarding Hull Cityâs official Twitter account at the weekend; namely, using the phrase âGOAL!!!â (complete with upper case letters and excitable exclamation marks) isnât probably appropriate when itâs the opposition who have scored. A simple lower case, unemotive, non-celebratory version of the word would suffice, reserving the more exhilarative interpretation for City goals. Itâll be interesting to see what happens if and when (letâs face it, we mean âwhenâ) Everton score on Wednesday and the clubâs tweetmaster needs to respond. 8: The club has, of course, decided that the Huddersfield hashtag âUTTâ is preferable to using Cityâs own name; and okay, thatâs their stupid decision to make, and in years to come itâll be remembered as just another instance of the club acting with foolish passive-aggression towards its own fans. Nonetheless, weâll be meeting with the club again on Tuesday night, so if thereâs anything else we can try to help them with, please do let us know. 9: Itâs a year today since Assem Allam slandered City fans as hooligans. A year heâs had to apologise. The lack of one proves that this is genuinely his view of us. What a sad state of affairs. 10: Regarding the owner, heâs said he wonât spend any more money if heâs not allowed his ridiculous name change. Granted, he says a lot of things, and they donât have a 100% history of being correct â but if City are in the relegation zone and his manager is crying out for a new player in January, will he really resist? And should he? http://www.ambernectar.org/blog/2014/12/things-we-think-we-think-164/
Such a shame the FA turned down the name change as it would have made a big difference to our league position.
Agreed. Funny that we've been utterly abysmal since the name change application was rejected in April. Maybe Allam was right all along. Is it worth a try?
Gloves is an interesting one , I wonder if there is any connection between wearing them and looking lazy and disinterested . Presumably if Ben Arfa had played well and scored a couple of goals nobody would care about the gloves
Can some please explain to me why we should drop Up The Tigers so Huddersfield can use Up The Terriers? Why can't the use #htfc? I realise that some of you have developed a hatred of our Tiger history but surely there's more than that to this?
Hull City fans all use #hcafc, as do Sky, the BBC and every other media outlet, only the club(both ours and Huddersfield's) use #utt. The reason Huddersfield don't use #htfc is because their neighbours Halifax Town started using it first(though ironically they went bust and since reforming now use #fcht). If you have a hashtag that is already in heavy usage, both in the media and with all your fans, you'd have to be a complete idiot to try and use something else.
