Yeah.. apparently it was the driest February for 30 years and the wettest March for 40 years? I bet though the reservoirs will have run dry in a month or so?

I gather that Devon, Cornwall and some parts of East Anglia are STILL officially under 'Drought Orders', going back to last summer and despite the wet March.

But not up here, thanks to Kielder.
Kielder was constructed to serve the ever increasing Water requirements of The Steel Industries of Consett and Teesside, and the North East Breweries.

At that time it took 34000 gal's of water to make a tone of steel and each pint brewed took up 20 gal's.
These industries are now long gone.
And while Sunderland, (and South Shields I think) receive their water from Derwent Reservoir, near Consett, if required water from Kielder could be re-routed.
(In case any of this is wrong, remember I ain't a Water Engineer!!!!)

(I do wonder why, as an area mor isnt made of this advantage?)

I’m sure I read that things were underway for a pipeline to take water from Keilder down to ( east anglia/the south?). North doesn’t get a share of the good things , but it seems the south expect us to share their shortages

ASTON VILLA chief executive Christian Purslow says he thinks the Premier League is investigating Newcastle’s Saudi-led takeover.

The league gave the green light to the takeover which gave the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF) majority control of Newcastle after receiving “legally-binding assurances” that the Saudi state would not have control of the club.

However, court documents published in the United States in February described the PIF as “a sovereign instrumentality of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia” and PIF governor and Newcastle chairman Yasir Al-Rumayyan as “a sitting minister of the Saudi government”.

The PL are backed into a corner imo.

Everyone on the planet, including them, know as a fact that the Saudi state own and run Newcastle.

True they can try to brush it under the carpet but it will lie there, fester and become more and more rotten. The PL know this and, if they do that, they become complicit in the lie .... that's another fact that can't be escaped.

People can pretend, in an Emperor's New Clothes way, that the owners are a happy band of investors, how can that possibly be when they won't make money. But the facts can't be hidden away and the noise, for action, will become louder and louder ...

... if they don't act now this will torture them until they crack.

Edgar Allan Poe predicted this and he was bang on ....

Lets not ignore the fact that most (perhaps ALL) of the rest of The Premier League Clubs are not going to like what is, in effect, yet another Country, fielding a Team in the League.
It helps to reduce everyone else's revenues and makes the problem of wage inflation EVEN worse.

How this got past The Premier League Board in the first place is baffling.
Turkey's it seems do sometimes vote for Xmas!!!

But now they might just have a chance to reverse this.
It would be in every Clubs own interest to do so.

As we are dealing with men of the highest integrity here, we can ignore the possibility of 'brown envelopes'.

What has happened to them so far? All I remember is a fine for spending too much? Has there been anything else?

Aye pretty much nothing, they were banned from all European competitions for 2 years, challenged it with the Court of Arbitration for Sport and it was overturned.

These state sponsored clubs are way too powerful now and the football authorities know it.

They've been charged with over 100 offences.

Punishment hasn't been determined yet.

So far punishments have done **** all. Let's see how these ones play out before we think they have been dealt with!
I think the Man City lawyers will drag this out for years. It has a feeling about it of they know they're fooked this time. CAS cant come to the rescue for them with this one.

Everything is on the table including demotion. I personally think they'll be looking at a huge points deduction and upto a two year transfer ban. Wouldn't surprise me if they did follow Rangers/Juventus and get lobbed a few divisions down.
