Stopped for a bottle of OJ, a coffee and a bun at an Edinburgh corner shop yesterday on my home from the match.

I always rub off the three security numbers, on the back of my cards, and memorise them ... if I lose the card it can't be used online, etc. Might be daft but it's my card.

The shopkeeper looked at the back and refused to take payment. I asked him why he'd even looked at the back of my card and he wouldn't say or explain why he wouldn't take payment. He said it was his right.

WTF?

This is what I found online about cards . . . .

There is nothing stopping you scraping the number off, but it may affect the usability of the card, and you won't be gaining as much security as you might think.

When you are physically at a shop/store and scan your card at a Point of Service (POS) terminal, either by magnetic strip or by chip, you don't need the security code, but if the scan fails and the cashier needs to type in your number, the POS terminal will generally ask for the security code to prove that the card is present. If the cashier can't read the security code, you'll need to provide it :emoticon-0148-yes:

Cheers, I just didn't like him looking at the back of my card tbh.

My train didn't get to Edinburgh until 00.47 so no onward train, I'd driven there and parked up so I could get home ...

.. but some ruffians, in Sloanes then Jamesons, forced drink down me. So I booked a bed in Edinburgh and had a few more <laugh>

Michael Schumacher's family are planning legal action against a magazine which published an artificial intelligence-generated 'interview' with the former Formula 1 driver.

Schumacher, a seven-time F1 champion, suffered severe head injuries in a skiing accident in December 2013 and has not been seen in public since.

Die Aktuelle ran a picture of a smiling Schumacher, 54, on the front cover of its latest edition with a headline of "Michael Schumacher, the first interview".

A strapline underneath reads "it sounded deceptively real", and it emerges in the article that the supposed quotes had been produced by AI.

The family have confirmed to news agency Reuters that they are planning to pursue the matter legally........



Whoever thought this was a good idea wants a 50 year sentence of daily wedgies!

Rose Robinson of Norwich walked into her local Sainsbury's and encountered a packet with 'Big Daddy Steak' emblazoned on it, she was so annoyed that she complained about the sexist connotations, and demanded it's removal. So this 38 year old mum has presumably been living in a cave and has never heard of a chicken breast, Daddies sauce, Aunt Bessie's roasties, Uncle Ben's rice etc.
What an absolute cretin if that's all that she has to complain about. Perhaps she should try a Cumberland sausage (ooer matron <whistle>)

Absolutely unbelievable level of disrespect. I’m not of the family , but I want to batter the breath out of the sh^ts responsible for it

Individuals like her annoy me , but more annoyed if Sainsbury’s or any company pander and tell all the rest of us that we have to accept their changes just to appease just one .

I read that story. I like how she had to go home and google the term and pick out the most 'sexist' definition in order to get more worked up. Big Daddy......large......supersized......fat wrestler.........large erections of the male genitalia. 'How dare they!!!!!'
