.............as part of Barcelona's latest attempt to capture Cesc Fabregas.

Barca, after failing to land Gunners skipper Fabregas last summer, are willing to let Alcantara move to London as part of a £50million deal.
Midfielder Alcantara is the son of former Barcelona player Mazinho and the 20-year-old was given his chance towards the end of the campaign

But he is likely to find his opportunities limited when manager Pep Guardiola strengthens his side for next season and will be allowed to leave as the Catalan giants desperately try to tempt Fabregas back to the club he left as a teenager in 2003.

Reports in Spain suggest Alcantara met Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger when Barcelona were in London for the Champions League final.
The youngster, who was born in Italy, is due to play for Spain at the Under 20 World Cup and played against England's youngsters in the same age group at last summer's European Championships.
He made his Barcelona debut as an 18-year-old in May 2009 and scored his first goal in February 2010.
Fabregas has made no secret of his desire to return to Barcelona but the Catalans' great rivals Real Madrid, according to reports in Spain, have also made the 24-year-old their top target.

    Steevee,

Beware of Greeks bearing gifts....or in this case the Spanish.

Never heard of the bloke and why would a team like Barca offer one of their own as part of a Fabregas deal?

Simples; because Barca reckon he's no good and has little potential.

Top teams do not "give away" players to other top teams.

PS: I notice you've been reading the Daily Fail. Tut tut.<nahnah>

    Why even bother taking Alacantara..
If he's any good Barca will tap him up in 4-5 years anyway

Get them to stump up the dough like any other team... <ok>
    Can't stand Barca..

yeah his father has come out and quashed the idea according to the ever-reliable (sarcasm) tribal football.

he is apparently a hot prospect. however, barca see it as easier to buy Fab now, which will appease the fans & generate huge shirt sales rather than wait for Alacantara develop. especially when they can offload him to Arsenal and buy him back in 5 years as a superstar when Iniesta is getting on a bit :)

If it was true and Arsenal signed this guy and he improved to be a great player Barcelona would only try and buy him back again. I would stay clear.

lol exactly.. 4-5 years when Alacantara becomes Arsenals new Fabregas, Barca will start doing shirt stunts, constant bickering, saying he has Barca DNA etc..

Then we'll sell them Alcanatra for a small fortune with the next Alcanatra coming to us to sweeten the deal. Over and over and over...

Do you really want to have to keep selling one of your best players before they've reached their peak and then have to wait a few years while the next young progidy develops?

If Fabregas wants to leave then you should let him but only take cash in return, unless they offer a good experienced player. You don't need another youngster with potential you really need someone who is more established.

No, you're wrong. What we need to do is to use any recuperated funds from the Fabregas transfer to strenghten the team in several areas with established quality.
