NACHO NOVO was yesterday unveiled as a Morton player and used the opportunity to accuse Rangers manager Ally McCoist of stringing him along through the media with promises of a dream return to Ibrox.

The 34-year-old, who had been a free agent since leaving hometown club Huesca this summer, has signed a 12-week contract and will go straight into the squad for the match against SPFL Championship leaders Hamilton at Cappielow on Saturday.
The Spaniard, who had been working recently as a tour guide at Ibrox, used the club's training facilities at Murray Park to keep himself in shape during pre-season but said yesterday that the lack of a contract offer from the club where he spent six fruitful years had compromised his friendship with McCoist. Kilmarnock also declined an option to sign the player following a trial period there.
"One of the worst things I did was to believe in words I got from the start from someone I knew like Ally," said Novo. "Over these last few months he's spoken about how he'd like to take me - or using the media to say things which in the end never happened. I was quite disappointed about that - when you've been with someone for a long time and they never come out and say 'yes' or 'no'.
"When you've been with a club for a long time and you always give everything for that club, you're always thinking they will help you for everything that you did," added the player, who has also spent time at Sporting Gijon and Legia Warsaw since leaving Scottish football in 2010. "But it never happened. At the end of the day you need to hold your hands up and say they don't want me. Not the fans - because they have always been supporting me and want me back. That has always been there all down the years.
"But I don't have time for lies or things like that. In the end everything will come out and we will see. I haven't spoken to Ally, I don't have any more time for Ally. I'm just looking forward to giving everything I've got for Morton. All that has made me even stronger now. I've always been a fighter and that's a good thing."
