Two footballers will stand trial on Wednesday accused of raping a woman at a hotel. Wales and Sheffield United striker Ched Evans, 23, and Port Vale star Clayton McDonald, also 23, both deny the attack, which allegedly took place at a Premier Inn near Rhyl, North Wales, last May. Evans, from St Asaph, is a graduate of the Manchester City youth academy and scored 10 goals in 28 league appearances while on loan to Norwich City in 2007. The following year he scored in his debut game for Wales and later joined League One side Sheffield United in a £3m deal. Liverpool-born McDonald, who was also part of the Manchester City youth scheme, has played for Macclesfield Town, Chesterfield and Walsall. The defender joined Port Vale at the end of last season. The two men will stand trial at Caernarfon Crown Court from 10.30am.
Why would a girl go back to a hotel room with two guys for anything other than being spit roasted. Not rape next case
I dont reckon they did it, what 23 year old pro footballer needs to resort to rape to get any action? The girls probably just been caught out by her boyfriend, and is so ashamed, she cried rape
I see. The "Stadium of Light" still makes me laugh. In which exotic location might we expect to find the majestic "Stadium of Light". Sunderland.
wrong, the stadium is built on the site of the old monkwearmouth pit and if you go you will see the point of the pit shaft. When the miners came up from underground they saw the light and knew they had come up safely, That's why its the stadium of light. I will educate you.
That's irrelevant, Benfica's ground has been called the stadium of light since the 1950s, so you copied the name, regardless of what sort of story you want to come up with
Isn't the Stadium of Light translation of Estadio Da Luz kind of a mistranslation or at least a misunderstanding? The orignal Estadio Da Luz was where Celtic won the #cough, cough# European Cup. The local parish was named after the church (our Lady of the Light or some ****) and the stadium's real name is actually Estadio Do Sport or something. Light, when applied to the virgin in the med, means "in the presence of God" rather than light - the literal translation doesn't really compute in English in the same way (I read it in a William McIlvanney book )
