Few Brazilian football fans have ever heard of QPR — but they will now.

Julio Cesar is a real transfer coup, he was voted the world’s best keeper in 2010!

He may have lost his place with the national side but the move has still stunned many Brazilians, who had expected him to sign for one of Europe’s bigger names.

What a move: QPR are set to sign Brazil goalkeeper Julio Cesar from Inter Milan

You can only applaud QPR for their audacity and ambition and admire the Barclays Premier League for once again attracting the finest players in the world to England.

Cesar, it seems, is still paying for the mistake he made against Holland in the quarter-finals of the 2010 World Cup.

Despite this, he remains a huge superstar in Brazil, where his keeping abilities, as well as his leadership, are appreciated. His fame went stratospheric after he married model and actress Susana Werner — a former girlfriend of Brazil legend Ronaldo. They have two children, Cauet, 10, and Giulia, seven.
Cesar’s successes include a Champions League winner’s medal and five league titles in Italy’s Serie A.

But he may now be in for one of the greatest challenges of his career — trying to keep QPR in the Premier League. With only two games played, it’s far too early to predict what’s in store for Mark Hughes’s side.

But QPR fans will be glad to know that if a battle for survival is on the cards, Cesar came through two testing periods at Brazilian giants Flamengo in 2001 and 2004 when the club almost crashed into the Brazilian second division.

Cesar has stated time and again that his burning ambition is to get back in the Brazil side for the 2014 World Cup in his home country.

The move to QPR has been widely — though incorrectly — perceived in Brazil as a backward step and the death knell for his international career. Cesar is hell-bent on proving them wrong.

I like the last line in that piece:

"The move to QPR has been widely — though incorrectly — perceived in Brazil as a backward step and the death knell for his international career. Cesar is hell-bent on proving them wrong."

Thought we were meant to take baby steps TF? IMO this is a BIG step. Hope it works out.

A keeper with something to prove, however this one is confident in his abilities and will be a QPR legend for ever more...

Give him the captains armband and watch us fly up the league, cup winners by the end of the season and 10th - 14th place....

    I don't think I'm asking too much, am I???
