Evening all just thought I would point out this horse that runs tomorrow in the last at Uttoxeter. This was an unraced horse on the flat with Sir Michael Stoute and was owned by ballymacoll stud. He is now in training with Rebecca Curtis and won his only start by 12 lengths. The only reason I have mentioned this horse is because Princess Newmarket (I think) put him up ages ago on the old 606 site. Below is his pedigree Sadler´s Wells (USA) (11.4f) — Hellenic (Darshaan (11.7f)) 12th foal; brother to to six winners inc. top-class 1m2f-1m4f filly Islington, Greek Dance (German 1m2f Group 1), New Morning (1m2f Group 3) and Election Day (1m5f Listed), half-brother to French 1m4f Group 1 winner Mountain High; dam won Yorkshire Oaks Certainly could be a nice horse
Certainly bred in the purple for the jumps game. I wonder why he never ran on the flat - injury one would assume. Perhaps PN can shed some more light . . . ?
Hellenic never bred horses that ran much. Don't know why: but this years 3yo Justlookdon'ttouch didn't ever run. Last year's La Divina managed one maiden outing at Kempton. Not a good feature for a broodmare but she made up for it with the quality of 5 or 6 of them.
The lovely Rebecca Curtis also trains my old fave Praxiteles who is a full-brother to this Thespis Of Icaria. She's done quite well with the former as he's won 5 contests for her. Early signs are that Thespis of Icaria could be just as good if not better than his older bro. Good luck to anyone who lumps on Thespis Of Icaria today. However, note that the horses who finished 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 7th behind him at Hereford have all been out since that race and all have been beaten. Hellenic's best offspring has to be the wonderful, wonderful mare, Islington. Her, Sir Michael and 'King' Kieren proved a formidable triumvirate.
