Defeat is very much part of football, you have to take the rough with the smooth.

As i said on another thread, I dunno what you expect him to say.

us fans get annoyed at any managers interviews when we're losing.. remember brownie and "we're not getting the rub of the green" or "we need to put 'wuh best foot forward" pearson was worse in interviews when we lost... **** he was just as bad when we won :)

end of the day barmby cant say a whole lot different than what he's already saying... at least he's being positive... which must be fooking hard to do after recent performances..

It is starting to feel like Burnsy keeps getting Rick Rolled in the interviews.

I know we keep losing or drawing 0 bloody 0 at the moment; but at least Nicky's TRYING to be positive. I don't know about tonight because I only listened in on the radio but on Saturday the second half performance was a disgrace. Hopefully now the board may stop spending money on other things e.g. politics and start spending the cash on our football club.
Darius Henderson in the summer please Mr Allam and a bloody good winger... e.g. Adam Hammill. Oh, and my months on end rant to get Dudgeon in the team didn't seem to pay off as he played CM and played left back for about 5 minutes before hobbling off; at least Simpson looked half decent meanwhile Matty Fryatt (again) had nothing to play off.
Nicky is TRYING to be positive... the fans patience is running out. Could we not play the lad who scores week in week out for juniors/reserves? (Who isnt cullen!)

its not the losing thats pissing people off, its the way we are losing..
the saints, leicester, and portsmouth goalkeepers would all have been rightly expecting 2nd half onslaughts if we had any guts and fight about us, i think they had to make 2 saves between them

It's amazing how quickly some of you have turned on Barmby. We all had doubts about his managerial capabilities, but you're talking about him as if he's just another Pearson who's come in almost against his will and doesn't give a ****.

have none of you ever realised that ALL football interviews are exactly the same! I could write and answer every question in most of them and get it right most of the time, they're a waste of time because nobody ever says what they really think

exceptions include Assou-Ekotto, Strachan and a few others

even Holloway's interviews are boring nowadays, he comes across as though he's actually trying to be a mentalist and it's not natural anymore.

If these results keep going we can use the money we're saving on win bonuses to buy us an extra player.

Trying to be positive would be putting a few men in the opposition's half. We rarely have any more than the front 4 joining in in any attack, how can they be expected to score against a back 4 and midfield?

The managers are expected to answer quite irritating, inane questions.

I'm not too surprised they usually sound narked in post-match interviews.

That's one area the media needs to scrub up on. They either kiss-arse, or try to weasel something insignificant out of them.

I've noticed that when SAF gives interview, and approves of the questions, he will rather patronisingly say "well done (insert name here)" to the interviewer at the end. If not, he goes rather red and exits stage-left quickly. He has them in the palm of his hand.

It is no secret, of course, that I used to enjoy the sheer hostility that NP used to display in interviews at times. I thought it was brilliant.

I've never really understood why people care so much about the managerial post-match interviews

People used to go on about Pearson been boring etc. but what difference does it really make ?

Just imagine if you had to go on radio or telly at the end of every day's work and justify your peformance for that day. In the end anyone would recite the same old thing over and over.
Ok it's part of a modern manager's job to face the media, but it's obvious 90% of them hate it and would rather be dealing with problems rather than explaining them.
It wouldn't worry me if AP banned NB from talking to the media with one blunt statement; "You will know how things are going by how well the team does on the pitch."

A Decent manager in my opinion will never turn on players in front of the media ... So of course Nicks not going to say anything but the same old lines ..

I agree, it irritates me enough in the press conferences on FM when they do that.

The difference though is that the managers are paid to do their job, and part and parcel of the job is dealing with the media knowing that whether we agree with it or not there are fans that do care, and not saying things that will keep the fans onside is just going to cause friction.

Taking NP's interviews, I found them quite amusing personally because he showed the interviewer's the contempt they deserved ("what negatives are you going to take from that game?" ffs), but at the same time I was also shaking my head thinking it wasn't that clever a thing to do.

Same with Barmby, I don't care what his general manner is, but thiings like the "We didn't even look for a striker" comment, we know it's bollocks but there's enough will take it at face value that all it did was increase the pressure on both Barmby's position and on the strikers that were (and still are) misfiring.

I cannot be bothered with the post match interview.
Its like being told the ending after you have already read the book!!!
NB Hi Burnsey, well we just did not get off the starting blocks tonight, but the lads worked hard against a well organised team. I took Matt Fryatt off because he was still sulking after scoring against his old club, the ****er. Vito gets it so wrong and then so right, what do you do with him, yes he took a knock, but not hard enough, just wait until Thursday, I'll lamp him one if he doesn't practice his english. I thought the midfield played well, all ten of them working together. They know now that if you do something wrong in my squad, I will **** you off to Notts County. I drill into them that possession is everything. But they still think that I mean possessions, Cammy was upset because I took away his DS on the way down here. Liam got so worried that I might take his that he spent most of the second half across on the right wing just, cos he thought I couldn't see him over the bulge in the pitch. Why these young players can't get into card schools and really have fun is beyond me.

A bit O/T but the thing that really irritates me on Radio Humberside commentaries is the constant flicking over to find out how bloody Scunthorpe and Grimsby are doing.
I bet 99% of City fans don't give a toss and just want to hear how our lot are doing (in between Burnsie and Swanny's joke-fest) and I'm sure they think the same about us.
