Just wanted to post that from the start of all the speculation I was hoping that we would sign Enrique.

He's a great defender and that is what we needed, all this attacking full back stuff is over rated how much effect in attack do they actually have? The stats people may prove me wrong but I prefer a full back to be able to defend.

There's no way past Jose. <cheers>

I got excited about him when we were first linked to him, a lot of people were quick to call him mediocre at best. Mainly rival fans but a lot of our fans didn't rate him simply because they didn't know enough about him. So far in his 2 games he has shown what he is capable of and I think everyone has been impressed.

Pat Jose..... the doppleganger we signed instead of Jose, when Jose plays ****. Also, due to Carroll's recent performances, it is to my understanding we have actually signed his twin brother, Mike Carroll.

So right mate, you can see him looking at all his options when he recieves the ball and does'nt just hoof it forward,he can jockey wingers and put tackles in Hansen and Lawrenson would be proud of,and when hes on one of his runs he makes himself aware of whos kept up with play and will keep possesion as long as possible before he sends one over into the opponents penalty area.

Hes a class player with a footballing brain.

    An excellent signing!

He's solid at the back and can put in some excellent runs going forward. A great bit of business at the reported £6M fee.

Played like that for the last 3 seasons.

I was very surprised when he went to your club tbh, I thought if he ever left us it would be to one of Europe's elite and is therefore a great signing <ok>

I wasn't that excited about him because the only times (admittedly very few) I've seen him played for Newcastle, he looked ok rather than spectacular. Happy to admit I was totally wrong!

Walcott was absolutely ruined by Enrique, he didn't get a sniff. Funny to see that big Jose was faster than him too <yikes>

The only way Walcott has any success is when he can knock it and run. He's not a particularly intelligent or crafty winger who can beat a man with footwork (like Dirk does, only he lacks the pace to get on the end of his own good work sometimes). So against a guy who is faster than him, Walcott has no chance.

It'll be good to see Jose against Lennon in a few weeks' time. Another winger whose only real asset is pace.

P.S: I bet Enrique's sprint speed is still less than 80 on Fifa 12.

Who the **** is Pat Jose?? :D <ale>

Enrique was class again today. No nonsense, looks good on the ball and plays it on the deck whenever possible. Keep him fit and we have the cure for our left back problems <ok>

He is a great defender and he'd have been worth the money for that but the extra he brings is better than we've had in a long time, too.

I suspect if he was just a defender, as good as he is, we'd be happy but wouldn't be raving about him. But he's as good as Johnson and better than Insua going forward and that on top of his defending makes me wonder how the heck we got him for the price we did.
