He should have brought Cairney on for Stewart, but to be fair Barmby is a rookie and he will make mistakes. I think he might have learnt from this one though.
Dawson for Stewart would have been fine if he'd put Dawson at left back and Dudgeon on the wing, they were getting in each others way, as they both seemed to be playing left back.
and yet if we won the game 2-0 everyone would have been happy with that sub. dawson didnt cost us 3 goals, the whole team was sloppy, end of!
Let's see how the next three games go! If it's 1 win and 4 defeats then a 20% win ratio will need no further explainin and everyone will be happy to see a full time manager appointed. Win 2 of the next three and 60% would be very acceptable. The next three games will also tell us everything we need to know about Barmby and the team. UTT
He needs a transfer window before we can make any definite decisions on his all round management capabilities.
Its too early to start blaming this and that, another half a dozen games then the picture will be clearer. But I must admit today, f*****g hurt, and I feel angry that their last looked blatentley offside....
not sure how much you can blame dawson individually, but all 3 goals came from that side, so something wasnt right... the more i think about the sub, the stranger i think it was, as we where playing 4-3-3 dawson came on for an attacker, not a midfielder, dont think you can get on his back too much in his 2nd game tho, the whole team lost there bottle after the 1st goal, its time like that i personally question the captains role.
You've got a point, but if performances like this afternoons continue then I doubt he'll get that luxury. What did you reckon to their third goal? Was it offside? From E5 it looked 2 yards offside! But hey that's just looking for excuses for a 15 minute implosion.
Sat bang in line in W11 and their 3rd was clearly offside, 2yds at least. Get out graphs, diagrams and pie charts and I'll still NEVER see the logic in that substitution! Bet their right back and right midfield were rubbing their hands when they saw the slowest least skilful player in our squad line up against them! Not a dig at Dawson although he was bollocks but FFS that is schoolboy stuff. And making the change when they have a free kick in a dangerous area?!?!?!?! Maybe my fault for over expectation but I thought NB had a bit more savvy than that! Other than that, McKenna and Hobbs were fantastic, Brady worked hard and looked up for it and Fryatt looked sharp. Gutted. COYH
Can someone please explain to me why Nick Barmby brought his (BEST FRIEND) Dawson on in place of Cameron Stewart,( How many managers have a left back on the subs bench, ) we were doing well so why change things. He could have brought Tom Cainey on and played the same system with Koren out wide. BAD SUBSTITUTION.
City were doing their level best to throw it away long before that. After Fryatt scored the second, we should have taken one of the chances after that. But we tried to walk it in. After that Burnley had a go and it paid off. We just kept handing possession back to them. The passing was pretty average all game. And we need to become a bit more wise to the oppositions play acting. The ref was awful.
The winner looked off side - of course the Ref was awful (Mike Jones w*nker) whilst they had more savvy than us. Wallace in particular fooled the officials time and time again. We still lack a leader -someone to be a constant nuisance in the REfs ear - like Ash was - Mckenna the only one that questioned the Ref. Poor substitution - thought Barms brought Daws on to push Dudgeon further forward - they just succeeded in getting in each others way. Gonna have to hit the pub later. Burnley again FFS.
i agree we lack a leader, the complete lack of shape and composure in the last ten minutes showed that to me, thats when your captain earns his money..
