But now with McClean, it wouldn't hurt too much.

EVERTON have made a late bid to sign Manchester City winger Adam Johnson on loan, according to reports.

EVERTON have made a late bid to sign Manchester City winger Adam Johnson on loan, according to reports.

The England international has mostly been used as a substitute by City manager Roberto Mancini this season and could now be set for a temporary move to Goodison Park.

The 24-year-old was born in Sunderland, and was on the books of Newcastle United, the team he supported, as a youngster.

However, it was at Middlesbrough where he made his name, following loan spells at Leeds United and Watford.

He moved to Manchester City in February 2010, but has found increasingly found himself a bit-part player at the Etihad Stadium.

Would love him, no doubt. Would also hate to see him with the blue bin dippers. That would irritate me no end.

But, having McClean does soften the blow.
