So who will we sell/send out on loan ? Personally reckon that Smith, Paddy and DJ will leave and drop down to the CCC. If we can recoup some money on them then fantastic. Reckon Hogie and Balanta could end up going out on loan. Has Matt Connolly left ?
In reality we need to ship out a fair few. I'd be hesitant to say that it will be the case though: Kenny Young (If, as we expect, a new defender comes in) Hulse Helgy DJ Smith Connolly (If not gone already, alhough he isn't on the offish.) Derry (Only if we get another CM)
As we are not yet a self sustaining club, its imperative we get rid of all deadwood. Get them off the wage bill. Probably at least half a dozen in that category.
Id like to see Young, Derry and Helgy stay TBH...always quite liked Smith as well, but can see him leaving for first team footie. Looks like Kenny is on his way now. Hulse, DJ and Connolly can go...shame DJ didnt get more of a chance to show what he can do, but can not see him getting any game time next season. Not sure if Hogie will be around either...maybe another loan deal. Im undecided on Bothroyd and Dyer...fair to say I would give them another chance I guess! No idea why with Dyer, as he is bound to be injured, but always recall what a good player he looked in his early days. Barton can bugger off...doubt he will be leaving though Who knows though...Hughes may take a likening to one or two that we thought were on the way out!?
I think it will be Kenny Young Hulse Bothroyd DJ Smith Connolly Ephraim with a RB, CB and CM coming in. Id also like to dump Barton but its virtually impossible.
Tony said on the radio yesterday that there are another 2 or 3 players to come in. That would put us at a turnover of over a third of the 25, and it is the stated objective to trim last years bloated squad of 40, so at least some of those named above will be going in addition to those already released.
Ive always like HH, its just shame his body is falling apart and is held together by elastic bands. I dont mind keeping older players we already have, its signing new old players who are no better than what we have that does my nut in.
Yeah, Im happy with keeping HH, Derry, Hill or Cerny for a year (as long as they are gone next summer) but wouldnt be happy if we signed them from another club.
I would be sad to see Young leave. Was our best players along Helguson pre christmas last season, and would still be a very good squad player for us imo.
yeah i know mate, my head tells me get rid...but for some reason I feel we should give him a squad position for 4th choice striker...hoping Hughes can get the best out of him
Heider definitely deserves his place in the squad, he was our top scorer last season after all and if he wasn't injured during the latter part of the season he would have surpassed DJ's 13 goal haul (for Blackpool) that we banged on about when we signed him.
