At his latest press conference, old melty face yet again flaunts the rules, by commenting about the potential availability of a player contracted to another club, and even more brazenly, his belief about there being a release clause in Demba Ba's contract. Totally out of order, but he seems to get away with it all the time. If I were him, I'd be more worried about a "release" clause that he might need to rely upon himself, in the event he is convicted of tax evasion, after his forthcoming trial!!
what did he say? was he asked if he was intrested in a striker? then was he asked if Ba would intrest him since he is on fire? to which HR probably gave a well constructed reply. you do know that journalists are bastrds
I saw the interview. He was asked about Ba's form and he said he didn't think there was a striker in better form at the moment. A reporter then said that it's believed he has a release clause in his contract to which 'Arry replied that that's what they(journalists) are saying, isn't it. I'll have a look for the exact quote, in the mean time the Geordie might want to start picking up his toys.
http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11678/7415365/Harry-admits-looking-at-Ba It's worth reading past the first few lines of journalistic **** stirring The actual quotes: "Demba Ba's done great, hasn't he, everybody's looking at him suddenly," "Anybody could have had him a year ago. Full credit to Alan Pardew, he took him. "He's done a fantastic job. What a strike-rate he's got. He's probably the most in-form striker anywhere at the moment." "They say there's a release clause in his contract, that's what we all hear," he said. "He's certainly done well and it will be interesting to see what happens there, but at the moment he's doing great things for Newcastle." And you don't see the questions he's answering either.
Nice article. There's one player between you an the bottom half, so I suppose you will be a little precious about him. Mind you Carrol looked good at yours and look at the state of him now. I'd be more worried about Queen kenny pushing for a swap deal to bring Ba to "the club he supported as a boy" and the pony-tailed buffoon back to the only place he puts in remotely acceptable performances.
. "....There's one player between you an the bottom half, so I suppose you will be a little precious about him. " Think you might be forgetting about the likes of Krul, Collocini, Cabaye and Tiote who have all played a key part in keeping NUFC where they are. They are not a one man team. Or is Old 'Arry going to be saying that he wants all of them as well?? Usual ploy of Del-boy to try to unsettle a player, before having a hissy fit when any club enquires about any of his players.....
Sky sport just run the clip and didn't edit out the questions. Harry is clearly replying to a suggestion there is a release clause in Ba's contract.
Toon fans can relax, there is no way Darth Levy would take a risk on Ba with his dodgy knee. He is playing very well at the moment but Spurs should be aiming higher for potential strikers.
I've heard it could be £7m Croydon, so if Levy could bring in Ba and move Pav on for a similar amount, then it might be a goer. I'd have thought that Tiote and Cabaye would've caught the eye of Ferguson and Abramovich, to be honest. They both need a little strengthening in the middle of the park, so expect the tapping up to begin soon. Tim Krul? Maybe in the summer.
Personally I'd wait to see what Ba does after the ACON, the whole change of environment could disrupt his momentum. I agree thats risky aswell, if he does return and continue the same way, then we can't act until the summer and could well miss out...thats the way it goes, we still shouldn't feel as bad as Tony Pulis though! If its as cheap as mentioned here then fair enough, we waste 7m quite regularly...and more!
Without Ba's 15 goals, your goal difference would be -11. That is flirting with the drop zone right now. Be under no illusions, the rest are average at best. You have had a fair first half but don't get carried away. On Harry, read the interview transcript or watch the clip. Harry says Ba is playing well. THAT'S IT. To be fair, one season wonders from the North East are not what we need right now, (Remember us being "linked" with Asimo Gyan last season?) You seem to be labouring the misaprehension that everything people say or write (but then again you obviously haven't seen the clip or read the transcript in this case,) about transfer dealings is true. Its a story that is made to sell papers, probably by a Geordie supporting hack desperate to keep your mediocre club in the news. The Del-Boy thing does you little credit. It is like us calling you lot Andy Capp. Try and be a bit more imaginative. The difference, by the way, with our "hissy fits" is that they result in us keeping the player, unlike most clubs who have one and then sell. Then again, have you really got anybody worth being "hissy" about? On the question of the release clause, that can only have come from one of three sources: 1. The club. Unlikely. 2. Ba: Can't imagine him phoning HR and telling him. 3. Ba's agent. I think we are getting warmer. You need to look a bit closer to home for someone to aim your misdirected indignation at.
