who still support the Belgian regime, who say without the D we will go into Administration... but is that any worse than the slow death we are suffering at present? We MUST continue the fight, we must get them out!

The 'head in the sand' followers of the Belgians with pet poodle Murray remind me of that quote from Niemöller

"First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Socialist.

Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Trade Unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me."

Let's hope that when the Belgians come after the East and West Standers that there are enough people like Nick, Super and China still around to make a difference.

    <cheers>

I think it would be an idea for the fans to do something at an away game. You'd get unity that way. The Leicester fans are walking in 5 minutes late at Arsenal, whose fans will applaud them in, something like that. At a home game you'd get a lot of tut-tutting from those who support the Belgian mafia. It would mean by-passing CARD, with their silly 12 o'clock announcement, and silly secrecy, but I think all the away fans would act as one. The Fulham game would be ideal.

A little anecdote I might not have shared with everyone from a few weeks back. I was sitting in my local Corals chatting to a fellow Charlton fan, a middle aged chap whom I know sits in the Upper West.

Me: "Are you joining the protests after the game tomorrow?"

Upper West Fan: "What are they about?"

    Yes. Really <cheers>

There will always be a sad hardcore who are only interested 'in the football'. You could put 11 dog turds in a red shirt every other Saturday, and as long as the Bovril is still on tap, they will be happy.

For my part, the Club and its survival is my passion. I want a Club for my kids and grandkids to continue to enjoy. Duchatelet and Meire and their sly ways are an anathema to all that is best about Charlton - i may romanticise it but a working class English club at its very best.

See you in the rain at 5pm today <cheers>

Having missed the last two home games I hope the 2.30 protest is on for the Reading game.

Haven't heard about this one. What's the plan? Maybe going in 10 minutes after KO?
I hope there's none of this stupid and unnecessary secrecy.

There's a rumour on CL that the sponsors are going to discontinue given the way the club is being run. It shows how bad things are that this makes me happy.

I read this, made me happy too, because it looks as though Algarve has done the biz. Well done that man.

I'm sure RD has enough contacts in Belgium to ensure a new breed of sponsors for next season.

True enough Super, but if true, it will go public eventually, and it's another stain on his silly reputation. Plus it won't look good in Belgium that his club is som badly run that even the sponsors are running for cover. From tiny acorns grow mighty oaks etc

Why would any firm, Belgian or otherwise, waste their money in a sponsorship deal which gives them nothing back?

Andrew Sykes put hell of a lot in to the club with little return. They even helped the financing of a player when we was deep in the rubbish.

    RD will have the contacts.

Strange then how one of the same fans egging on the sponsors boycott was also happy to show Scumbag Duchatelet around the Charlton museum on his last visit over here - two faced or what? You don't fraternise with a guy who is literally destroying this football club. As Super says, RD will undoubtedly bring in a new swathe of non UK sponsors from next season, like minded Belgian droids for whom playing in a ****e league infront of a 75% empty stadium is not an issue.

The anger in the away end was building up nicely on Saturday - CARD really should be ramping it up today, and setting the ball rolling on a mass boycott. No more Disney masks and beer mats.

P.S: It was reassuring to see Sue "Dot Cotton" Parkes back in her rightful place at the front of the team bus on Saturday. I was about to approach her and gormless Chris with words to the effect of "you have got a f******g cheek" when my sons dissuaded me. Truly a Marie Antoinette scenario as she and "G.C" disembarked and headed towards the free scoff, with us mere mortals standing outside in the pissing rain. That is something else that won't change about Charlton next season - "G.C" being allowed to take his wife to work - only the free scoff won't be as good at League One clubs.

Sykes is a local firm, and he will at least have got the publicity for his product, which is what sponsorship is all about, I think. I can't see how a form operating in Belgium would have this incentive.

That is true - but it could be anything from a company expanding in to the UK market, dual with Truiden or companies he has investments in.

Then he could grow the sponsorships to cover the losses. Back of shirt (top and bottom), sleeves etc. Common practice in Europe.

But at the end of the day they are still hard-nosed businessmen, and it would take a lot of salesmanship to persuade them to sponsor a sinking ship, especially one on foreign soil.

Yep - but doubt it will be a premium rate due to our position.

I really don't see RD struggling to seek sponsorship. We just might have more to cover losses.

The Nike deal has been agreed for another season - with the kits being selected in the last couple of weeks.

The problem with your arguement Super, is that any new sponsorship deal will be negotiated by the Bitch..... so will be a very poor deal for Charlton <ok>

The only worse 'Deal Negotiator' I can think of at present is David Cameron <ok>

If you think that was bad, just wait until Prime Minister Corbyn goes into nuclear arms talks with Putin <cheers>
