No-one has yet had a bad word to say About Chris Hughton, the man, And the fact that folk are willing to play For him, should be good for us fans These days as football becomes ever filled With cynical, cash-grabbing folk, Here at our club we should be more than thrilled To be led by a good, decent bloke Success we all want that´s clear, but for me Not regardless of any cost, For players to feel it´s a good place to be Is a fact that shouldn´t get lost Di Canio and Sunderland do spring to mind When the chemistry patently failed, A boss with his head in the sand who was blind To what his players felt or ailed And we´ve had our own unmentionable times Back in the black Roeder days, Where despite his ´name´ there were inclement climes As he worked in mysterious ways Back then folk were willing each game, every week To end in a total collapse, So that we could dump him and go out and seek Someone like Chris Hughton, perhaps So I hope the next few games show an upturn In fortunes, goal scoring and skill, With the result that some rewards they can earn As his goodness deserves some goodwill. Well said RBF, but I think he's a bloody good manager as well who'll move us forward over the long term. That won't suit the quick fix generation, though. OTBC!
Totally agree with both of you, to me, his personality is a big plus that sometimes seems to be forgotten when we´re evaluating him. How one is as a person is certainly not immaterial, and can, irrespective of the qualities one may have as manager, soon turn things sour, as we saw at Sunderland. I know it´s a cut-throat business, but decency will still get you a long way.
