Does anyone else think that our lack of involvement in the Transfer Market is due to the fact there is going to be a change of ownership of the club. This is what i am hoping.
Hi, I don't think I do believe that. I think it is early days. People are on holidays after a long season and the transfer market always hots up nearer then end. It's just not busy at the start. Hope Mittal does buy but I don't think the lack of transfers is a marker of that. So long as Warnock is in charge, be patient and keep the faith. He is 62 and this is very likely his last chance for success in the top flight. He will be careful and canny with his signings.
more likely due to the fact bernies taken so much **** over bahrain he is keeping his head down...also he dosnt want to spend anything on his new plaything qpr
also see this today , wonder if we will be involved at all in this . http://uk.tv.yahoo.com/news-extra/article/154663/bbc-selling-television-centre.html
Ah, the old 'new stadium' theory! For those who have not already done so, it is worth looking at the google earth satellite ppicture of Loftus Road and the surrounding area. I think the BBC site is (just) big enough for a new stadium if that stadium was set at an angle to maximise the length of the plot. The close proximity to the larget shoping centre in Europe is tantalising! Flav's vision of 'boutique football' might include dropping off the ladies for a spot of Dolce, Vitton etc and then parking the Rolls for a couple hours prawns and champagne while some chaps kick a ball around! More seriously, the geography of the area does look like there are some serious possibilities. Years ago, when this was first discussed, some one posted they had seen Bernie and Flav walking around the BBC site with clipboards. Probably not true but great reading!
The first theory is sound, I'm sure with things going on in the background then I'm sure the goons will probably drag their feet somewhat. But I doubt that they would stop Warnock full stop as this would damage the club and their profit margin if Mittal decided to hold on until the **** hit the fan, then he could argue a much lower price. Besides there is enough information to indicate that we are actually quiet busy in the transfer market, we just haven't finalized anything yet. But this brings us to the new stadium, or rather what could be our new stadium if the sale of the club goes through. It's funny but I could see the BBC site suiting the goons as it would be built as part of a media complex and therefore the cost wouldn't be as high as if we purchased the site ourselves and wanted to build from scratch. I'm pretty sure negotiations were at quiet an advanced stage at one point. Before we played a game last year live on BBC, Gabby Logan said or hinted about us moving to the BBC site and then said that they would go into the situation later, but then nothing else was mentioned. Then there's the fact that a couple of weeks after the BBC said they were selling the site, which wasn't that long after the goons bought us, Bernie suddenly and without warning pulled the TV rights for the GP from ITV with 2 years left of their contract and gave them back to the BBC which he's said he wouldn't do?? The problem with the BBC site is that the stadium would be restricted to 30-35000, which obviously would suit us perfectly now but look what happened to Chelsea. They thought it a perfect solution to develop the area around the bridge to bring in extra revenue, but now with their success it has meant the ground isn't big enough and they now have to move somewhere else. This might suit the goons because they certainly don't plan to move us to a stage where we would compete at the top, but that's what Mittal wants, therefore I doubt he'd want the BBC site? But that's just my opinion which counts for nothing.
Re signings, i have to agree with TLR. Can Bernie afford to gamble on not spending, with view to selling up. If this doesn't come off and we've ended up not buying anyone, we'll surely go straight back down. I think we'll see something soon enough. Also, when do the teams have to have the 22 man squad announced by? I'm sure there will be some players for the taking there.
I think that sooner or later the owners will have to spend IF they want their dream of champions leqague football to bcome reality.
Yeah I had a good play with google earth and looked at the area and possibilities and the BBC is feasible. But the spot I'd seriously look at it next to the Linford Christy Stadium on the Wormwood Scrubs. It backs on to the prison so nobody to complain but a few dog walkers and has plenty of space. Throw in some money to develop the playing fields, maybe a small sports center and that should keep the council happy. We could even build an academy on the site too. But it all takes gazzilions of dosh that isn't going to be there until or if Mittal buys us.
1. Clearly Ecclestone is looking to sell and will make only very limited funds available in the interim. 2. The Mittals wanted to get in early and buy up the club cheaply but Ecclestone way having none of that. 3. Even if the Mittals were back on the scene there is zero evidence that they are ready to spend big on QPR. Why people keep trotting out that fantasy is a mystery to me. 4. My guess is that the US/Indian consortium mentioned in the press months ago are still in play somewhere. 5. We could well be in the toilet if this master plan ends up with us without a long term owner real soon.
Maybe they've signed up to the yo-yo (aka circling the drain) school of though on Premiership football favoured by the likes of Wolves, Wigan, West Ham and Birmingham
I'm pretty sure I read somewhere last year that the BBC building is listed which would scupper a stadium straight off. I think Wormwood Scrubs would be the perfect site, Paladini might even do a stretch there to suss it out...
we all hope this happens there are rumours leaking on Twitter that something is happening but its just a rumour and when it comes to qpr that's all it seems to be.
Yes - there are a number of bits of the building (most notably the 'Doughnut', the main circular bit in the middle) that is listed and therefore needs to be retained as is. Given that, there's no room there for a stadium on that site.....
