Had an amazing game on Saturday. He's been due one for a while, and it came...against Ashley Cole...rated as one of the best left-backs in the world. What was different about him on Saturday from previous performances? He created two great chances in the first 15mins, and scored a fantastic goal - a LOT of players would have stayed down hoping for a free kick there, but he got up, and a beautiful shimmy later he was burying the ball in the back of the net. Was very impressed with him. If he hits that kind of form a few more times, Arsenal are definitely on the up and in with a good chance of being in the top 4. How do you guys feel he's doing?
he has been good all season for me. seem's to have shoudleed a lot more responsibility and is certainly a senior member of the squad now despite his age. I think the difference on saturday is that his contributions were more impacting in the final third whereas usually he doesnt always produce the magic that people only seem to pick up on.
Walcott had a fantastic game. He usually plays well anyway imo and gets too much stick. He is alot more consistent than people make out and something people fail to notice is how much he helps out defensively. He is a great player to have in the team.
Massively underrated and unfairly criticised by a lot of people, Walcott is a hard worker, does his job well, tackles back and produces moments of magic
Also his finishing is equally as sharp as it was last season, something he gets little recognition for, he is definitely close to playing a more central Thierry Henry like role.
I think the front three of RVP Walcott Gervinho Could be one of the deadliest front lines this season.
On a human level, everyone wants to perform better against players they know. Walcott knows cole well from england knows his strengths and weaknesses and so would not only be better equipped to take him on but probably more spurred on than anything else. I also think he's a confidence player if he gets a good touch or a good run at the start of a game he will play well for the rest of it.
Oh listen to all of you !! The Chelsea game was Walcott's best game for Arsenal, but lets not kid ourselves that he plays to even 50% of that level week in week out !! He actually managed to put in decent crosses, he ran well with the ball and he finished superbly, very rarely does he do all three in a game. Walcott is hit and miss and one great game doesn't make him better than he was before that game, I want to see him performing near this level far more regularly before I start to praise him.
it was a great performance. still however, he barely ever completes 90mins. i realise this is possibly because he's an explosive player and late on in the game he's more susceptible to injuries, but he must have completed 90mins < 20 x for Arsenal. must be frustrating for him to always be taken off.
Nearly all of Theo's standout performances have come away from home - Udinese, Chelsea, that infamous Croatia match. I don't think that's a coincidence and there are a few reasons for this. Obviously, we can play counter-attack far more effectively away from home as the home team has the incentive to attack, leaving Theo more space to run into. Also, in away games the opposition will usually only put one defender on him, which gives him a lot more freedom. At home, it is completely different because we look to build from the back, make slow, passing moves and very rarely get in behind defences. This is a complete contrast to Theo's game, which is a shame. I really do think that at home, he should be utilized as a striker, with RVP behind. I'd still play him instead of Arshavin though, because Theo has more of a team ethic.
No - most of his games are quiet games ... get it right. One good game doth not a good player make ! Like I said, when he starts doing it regularly I will revise my opinion of him. He is poor far more often than he is good.
He is not poor far more than he is good - thats just not true. He may not rip teams open every game but his overall play is very good - the defensive side of his game has improved massively and he tracks back well and off the ball he constantly makes very good runs which are often missed by the midfield. Regardless of the stick he gets he is actually a very good player.
