Sadly it was marked by a 3-0 loss to Nottingham Forest at the City Ground, which ensured a miserable season ended on a low point. Hereâs a round-up of what that 1996 team have been up to since. Iâve also chosen a combined XI based on what I think are the best players from that side and the current Rangers squad. Some may disagree with my choices. For example, Iâve gone for an ageing Wilkins and Barker on the basis that they were proven performers at a higher level, whereas Alejandro Faurlinâs many admirers may have other ideas.
