The Bristol Post can reveal that the club has issued a writ against the supermarket chain for what it claims to be breaches of contract over the planned redevelopment of its current ground in Horfield. Rovers claim they are out of pocket to the tune of nearly £340,000 as a result of legal fees and soaring building costs, due to Sainsbury's allegedly dragging its feet over the scheme. Despite the relationship between the parties obviously going sour, the Post understands that the club insists Sainsbury's is legally obliged to build the new store, which is crucial to funding the new stadium at the University of the West of England's Frenchay campus. Well I'm on Rovers side here - if Sainsbury's have signed a legally binding contract then they have to abide by it. Not sure what Sainsbury's are going to gain by dragging their heels, because surely the increasing building costs would also apply to them?
I would agree, but they signed a legally binding contract subject to several outcomes, and the one which appears to be causing the issue is the timing of deliveries to the store. It will be the wording of this which determines who is actually at fault; Sainsbury's may well have no guilt here.
The problem for Rovers here is, Sainbury's solicitor will be a higher quality and will win in the end. Imagine if this happened when we lined Sainsbury's up to buy AG?
At the end of the day theres only one set of laws/regulations to abide by so if rovers have covered there asses I dont see how we can loose. Plus Higgs made his fortunes from the building game, I can only imagen he knows his stuff and wouldnt get caught out at his own game.
It's imagine mate, if you want to tell me about this great job you're in now please spell correctly. No doubt Higgs has got this construction company, but I work in heavy construction and when it comes to issues like this you will find only one winner. I know what you mean by one set of laws and regulations, but there will be loopholes they will get through. They will probably offer some compensation. I want you lot to have this new stadium, as it would prove that Bristol can move with the times plus it would attract good music artist to play there. I suspected something was not right a few months back when I have not received any specifications on either the ground or Sainsbury's. I saw the AV ones years before that was stopped, but nothing on either of these two.
Never once have I told you about a "great job" and it's a tad childish to pick up on one or two spelling mistakes isn't it? it not an english exam, but if it pleases you carry on Back on topic, the only compensation I can see rovers gaining is the money lost through legal fees and time wasted through out the time sainsburys were involved.

Why has he not just been above board with all of the Rovers fans of the difficulties of the stadium build, especially with all of the other problems involved, including a so say£10m debt..

But yep that's the sad annoying thing about this sort of ****, hence why they get rich because they **** on the others. Fingers crossed as I said I hope you get the ground, I'm looking forward to seeing these bands that bypass Bristol to go to other venues.
bet it went along the line of this. you: he's so great. not only is he good looking he has a great job too, i'm ever so proud of him I wish he was my son. I doubt very much that it will go ahead everything just seems to be going against us atm.
Do we all have a feeling that the chances of the whole deal going through - new supermarket, new houses and new stadium, are about as good as Rovers or City winning the Premiership this season.
