Sterling, Suso, Wisdom, Morgan, Robinson, Ibe, Coady, Sinclair and Yesil all played for the first team last season. Sterling, Wisdom and Suso got themselves seriously involved with the first team. We have a good set of exciting young players there. But apart from Sterling, Suso and Wisdom, which youngsters are you most hoping to see get involved more/ given more opportunities next season? Do you think any of them can get themselves seriously involved in the first team? Can Coady step up and give us some needed depth in the DM area? Can Texeira but some pressure on Joe Allen's spot? Is it Yesil or Noil for our German striker? Robinson at left back? Ibe on the wing? and the rest. Seeing Sterling and Wisdom in the team will certainly have provided great motivation to put in the effort and hours to step up. Do these players have the balls to step up?
Think we will see McLaughlins debut this year. He has the potential to be one hell of a player.... I hope that Tex all makes his debut, but McLaughlin is more likely with kellys week legs and the northern irish connection. Wisdon can become on of the best CB in the league for sure. Want to see Suso get more opportunities as a playmaker as his vision, passing and ball control is awesome. Ibe and Sterling will get games but I dont want to see either over played..... Want to see Lloyd Jones, Sokolik, Sinclair, Rossiter, Dunn and Tricket Smith become mainstays in the U21s this season....
Would love to see NGoo get a chance aswell at some point, but that is never going to happen unfortunately.
McGlaughlin has shown great trust and belief in the youth players. At 18 McGlaughlin could really get going this season. Kelly has to really start performing now.
this genuine talent there. i'd put ibe on a strong path too but wonder about 2 kids so young in wing positions both coming on. sterling and ibe is something i'd have to say that letting ince and silva go was right to enable.
McLaughlin Every match I've seen him play he really stands out to have that pure quality, man of match in 90% of the games imo. Tough position to get too many chances this coming season - But I can't see why next season he's not tested with the big boys. I have every faith he's up for the job. Our biggest prospect at his age by a mile imo...
100% agree, I'd even go as far as saying he's the best talent we've had in the academy since Gerrard.
I would think McLaughlin's chances this season will be very limited. Both Wisdom and Kelly will get more - game providing no injuries - to prove themselves. Hopefully their chances will be at CB, but possibly RB if necessary. Glen is still our first choice RB but his spot will be under serious pressure this season if he starts to under perform. As much as people rate McLaughlin (I've not seen him play) I think he's still another year away just based on who's before him. Kelly and Wisdom need opportunities to prove they should be kept on. A championship loan move would be better for him rather than perhaps one or two random appearances in the FA cup. From the other youth; Yesil and Texeira are rated highly by coaching staff and should see a few bench appearances (unless we go crazy in the transfer window). Same for Ibe. Suso really needs a loan if he wants to keep progressing. Sterling should see some rotation in the first team. I don't know if Coady will make the cut, but he should get chances this season in the cup games to see what he can do. I think Morgan's approaching his make or break season, he didn't take his chances last season - but should get a few more like Coady. Robbo needs a loan out imo.
Yesil is 20 now I believe, and has now been in this country for a year. When he made his two appearances last year he struggled a bit. But it was a forgivable struggle. Now I feel it is time for him to start pushing onwards and upwards. The PL squad could use a striker of his style if he is fit, strong, confident and mature enough.
Yesil had a few injuries problems last season, so didn't get many chances. I think he'll be given them this season to show what he can do. I remember reading that the German national team coaches thought highly of him - and they definitely know more than the British ones at least
