Ultimately the buck stops with them.
They are presiding over almost complete failure on the pitch, and have never once shown any interest in buying back the Valley & Sparrows Lane. That’s because they are here for a quick profit & a cash out …which is looking increasingly unlikely.

Not sure how they expected to make a quick profit on a club that has no assets, has been failing on the pitch and flogs its best players to offset against the running costs. I’m no businessman but that’s dead in the water isn’t it ?

The punt on Charlton was based on risk reward assessment as part of a wider portfolio. They knew they were likely to lose money on it (as you or I would doing the lottery) but if methven was able to luck a promotion and reduce the overheads they’d hope to flip the purchase and sell for more than was lost . Luck two promotions (yeah I know) then they’d be on a gold mine
Don't all owners want to make a profit? I don’t see it as a problem. The problem is mismanagement, especially in recruitment of players and managers. We've got the wrong people running the club. If the owners do put the club up for sale I imagine they'll want a return not only on the £11m they paid, but on what they've paid out to keep it afloat, not to mention the salaries of the SMT.

Sandgaard didn’t get his money back, he got most of his purchase price back. He lost millions on the operating costs incl dud transfers.

They don't employ anybody to scout the fan base, get a feeling for the situation at grass-roots level.
A bad mistake, as it is fans who pay season ticket money.
There are a few kinds of owners who are so wealthy that they can afford to ignore fans.
The owners of Chelsea, Newcastle, Manchester City, or Wrexham for instance.
But many owners only have limited funds available. Usually far more limited than they are prepared to admit.
Like the current CAFC owners.
If they really want what's best for the Club they are buying they should invest a little money investigating slick salesmen like Charlie Methven.
