The Football League has concluded its investigation into a complaint made by Bristol Rovers in May relating to an alleged infringement by Wycombe Wanderers of League regulations prohibiting third-party interests in players. A Football League spokesman said: "Having fully investigated the matter, it is our view that the financial transaction in question did not amount to third party investment or influence over players. Instead, it was a re-organisation of Wycombeâs corporate structure that saw the club reduce its debt to its previous owner. Nonetheless, League regulations require such agreements to be disclosed and approved by The Football League Board before they are concluded. It is clear that this did not happen, although it is equally clear that the Board would have approved this particular arrangement had it been given the opportunity to consider it. Having co-operated fully with the investigation throughout, Wycombe Wanderers have admitted this breach of League regulations. The club has been issued with a reprimand that will remain on file for two years, as well as a warning as to its future conduct.â http://www.football-league.co.uk/news/article/2014/20141003wycombereprimandrp-1985954.aspx So they didnt break the 3rd party rules which Rovers complaint was about but broke another rule instead and have only been given a slap on the wrists for breaking that rule. Is that the end now it now or will Mr Higgs challenge this decision???
The FA said they would have agreed to the money going to our ex owner Hayes had we informed them,it was naivity on the trusts part no more than that. Most of the trusts board hadn't run a football club before but took on the task to save our club from Hayes ineptitude so well done them.We told you there was nothing to be de3ducted points for but you believed Higgs who tried to deflect the fact that under his tenure you lost your place in The Football League.
You seem to have a bad memory. When the story 1st came out, we ALL thought this was sour grapes from Higgs and was embarrassed by it. Then a couple of you came over here saying things to us like it was us fans who were going against Wycombe even though ALL comments in the thread prior to you lot coming over ALL showed we were not impressed with Higgs. I remember correctly that after I put you lot straight you even apologised and Ron even came over and apologised on behalf of some of you. But due to some of your members comments, I cant comment for all gasheads here but I for one wanted Higgs to win this battle with Wycombe just to get back at some of you. I would think you will find that we ALL said if Wycombe broke the rules over 3rd party claims then you should get penalised. Why should a club who broke certain rules get away with it? So again obviously fair is fair, IF you had broken the 3rd party rules then you should get done for it. We also said if you hadnt broke the rules then fair enough. You certainly wouldnt find anyone in support of Higgs at the time and certainly no one believing him as you claim in your comment above. Get it? Good. As we are actually winning games and our fans seem to be more happier these days, I guess Higgs will see this and decide not to take it further. But would be interesting to see what he thinks and does next though.
The Wycombe fan who gave you the most abuse was a new member from South Devon, can't remember his name but even we were embarressed by a lot of his posts. The rest of us argued our case fairly i thought but some like Black Seas Gas? wouldn't have it but as it's been proved we didn't cheat in any way on purpose this should be an end to it unless Higgs wants to waste even more money on lawyers.
But comments from us against Wycombe had a massive point behind the comment and that is just one word - IF. IF Wycombe were guilty then blah blah blah. The letter from the Rovers lawyers showed the points what the complaint was about and if the points were correct then you get get the book thrown at you. That was the points being made in different ways by different people. It wasnt a case of believing Higgs. You will find it hard finding any Rovers fan who trust Higgs if you catch my drift!
Mowgli needs to go back to the jungle, or failing that, should just hop over to the Ted's board to continue to suck up to the 'bigger boys'.
In fairness the vast majority of posts I saw from Rovers fans felt it was "clutching at straws" and some petty attempt to deflect blame for the real issues. Looks like it is all done and dusted now unless of course there is an appeal. Glad to see after your jittery start that you are getting some good results. Although I wouldn't chose to go back to the conference, the trips to all sorts of weird and wonderful grounds certainly bring back good memories. Lets hope this is the end of it and best of luck in your promotion push!
Maybe relegation in some sort of sick twisted way was the best thing for us. If we had stayed up then that would have just papered over the cracks and Higgs and co would have said something like "see, nothing to worry about, we didnt go down". However the relegation made fans stand up and make themselves heard. You can see Higgs and co are trying in some ways to improve relations between them and the fans. If we had stayed up then the players who didnt try last season would still most likely be around. But as we went down, those players didnt want to stay and we got a new team who actually fight for every ball who plays for the shirt. Win, lose or draw, all we want to see is players who actually give a damn as its been ages since that has happened and it looks like we may have this now. Im glad we aint top and running away with it as I think that would create more pressure on the players. We are already a lot of clubs cup final as we are a big fish in this league. But if we were top running away with it then the opposition would want to try even harder in my eyes. Instead we are creeping along nicely going unnoticed if you catch my drift
So it was sour grapes and desperation after all.! still you seem to have found your level and seem to be able to win a few games in non league, so everyone happy..
