I can tell you all now categorically, the world ain't waiting for this one.

In this part of the world, they are waiting on shakhtar donetsk, United Real was a side note and not even a video clip.

This is the one everyone in Spain and England are waiting for, oh and supporters of both teams. Hardly the world is it.

Tired of hearing that sheite. Bloated self importance.

I've never seen an El Classico believe it or not. Yet they also think the world watches that.

Interest is regional for the most part and always will be.

Can't say I agree. I agree that regionally, some games take precedence. I'm sure that in Donetsk, it's currently United who? Real what?

But in general, most neutrals or casuals are looking forward to this match. Whenever I can, I watch the Clasico's or any other European games, from Serie A or whatnot. It's never a bad thing to be familiar with many leagues or teams. It comes in handy when facing them or scouting their players. Many other people feel the same way. In my part of the world, everyone's looking forward to watching the game. I am too, to see Real Madrid triumph.

It's self-importance if you dismiss all other games of the round or any other teams in the competition. It may be the best game for a neutral but all games are equally as important.

In Germany the Dortmund game is awaited, Russia Sweden Finland, and this is just for a start, can't speak for anywhere else but I have the latter three countries TV channels and it is a fact not my opinion.

Up till now I couldn't know, but since moving here it's quite clear it is actually not the case. I'd say Poland is Donetz Dortmund, Poland supply many players to the German league.

regardless I am looking forward to it!!

C'mon Real, for once I'll be cheering for Ronaldo<laugh>

Not about United this, more so because of Jose's comments

I see what you mean now. When people say the whole world awaits this match, they mean one of two things.

First, that everyone only cares about this match, which is wrong and self-centred. Obviously the Germans care more about Bayern and Dortmund. And they're right to. One match isn't more important than the other. Donetsk is probably jumping right now.

The other thing they could mean is that most neutrals await this match more than the others in the tie. Of course this also assumes that the neutrals are from the UK or Spain or America. Neutrals in other parts of the world will watch what interests them the most.

True enough<ok> I'd not have been be bothered if there wasn't an English side in this game, I wouldn't watch Dortmund Donetsk :) either. Just couldn't care who wins that one.

Dortmund seem to be doing well without Kagawa. If United don't get through and Dortmund do, I think he might kick himself a little IF Dortmund manage to win it:) but not too much.

    i couldn't give a **** about this game.

but the "this should have been the final" comment, Mourinhio thinks too highly of himself.

WHEN we get back in the CL be interesting to see what the viewing figures would be for a utd Liverpool final, now i bet that is a game most neutrals would want to see as a final, could have had it as well if it wasn't for Riise stupidity.

if Mourinhio is the special one, why doesn't he take a team with no fecking money and prove he is special? exactly cant do feck all with out money to spend.

hope Real win obviously, but i wont be watching.

Look, there's no problem with them 'biging up' the game. I might watch - I might not and I'm not prepared to spend any more time today even thinking about it.

The world cup final wouldn't get close to this number so I don't see how Manchester UTD vs Read Madrid in the last 16 would.

noone minds bigging up the game, it aint just this game though.

Sure some believed a certain English club has 659million supporters. They even created a thread about having that many fans, 1 in ten people in the world. I mean <laugh> People are so ready to believe anything if it is their own club.<ok>

The thing is the media always bang on out this and the PL viewer draw, it just doesn't have the global draw they say it does.

I agree with BBF. Madrid are central to the Spanish press and United central to the British press. It's trumpet blowing and a "Look at me!" attitude. Neither club is anywhere near the dominant forces they once were.

Shaktar v Dortmund, Full set of Championship fixtures and some League 1/2 + Non-League that will be attended by in excess of 200,000 people. Do any of them really give a toss about Man U v Real? I'll watch some of it, as quite frankly there's naff all else to watch but generally not bothered.

Real will go through anyway, valiant effort by United but the media spin and portrayal that its some kind of evenly matched contest that could go either way is laughable. United will be lucky to see the ball tonight and I suspect they'll play for a 0-0 and try and nick one late on.

Draw HT, Real FT is a good bet.

Hoping Ronaldo smashes a brace past United tonight, just so "80% of the world" can see them get humiliated and lose.

And they think he's going back there this summer <laugh>

That would be nice, the brace that is, not him going back.

If you look at his options. Pepe Bayern, erm no way. Those two will not work together.
    Inter? Italy? I doubt it.

There isn't exactly a lot of options for him after Real, I mean he can go anywhere he wants to but other than AC or back to Portugal, United are probably the only other team, thing is, they cannot afford him. 100m? or how much is his services these days?

Surely United can't be paying that for players after all the abuse they've been giving city fans for the last few years yet they've seem to have forgotten already.<doh>

Just typical Mourinho bluster. Look at me! I'm special! Every club I manage is the biggest in the world and everyone wants to watch them!

Tho' I'm more surprised BBF didn't jump on Mourinho's comments about Ronaldo:

"He is the best. The best in the world, yes. Probably the best ever."

Or is he ok to make that claim now Ronnie has left Utd? ;)

This evening I fkn love Ronaldo<ok>

Also, as I stated I was getting at the media bluster too, PL overhype

Not a crack an United or Ronny cos he played for ye!!! You **** *** ***** :)

P.S. There's no point jumping on Jose's comments about Ronaldo, he can say the moon is made of Stilton for all I care, such obviously wrong comments don't need to be refuted

The chat is that his price will have gone down as FFP has knocked big spending on the head. Also now the Spanish government is in bankrupt they can't keep throwing money at Real and clubs like Milan are cutting back now Silvio's off to bunga bunga in a cell.

£55 million is the figure bandied around at the moment. It's a lot, but considering we've only just spent the cash we got from selling him I think we've a few years of transfer budgets build up in the pipe line. And apparently Chevrolet and Nike would cover some of the costs, like Real's sponsors apparently paid them a bonus to help fund the first transfer.

If Utd go out, I'm hoping RDM will take over from Wenger and steer Arsenal to glory. I think a few Chelsea supporters' heads would explode if that happened <laugh>

Overhype? It's all factually valid and well supported information <ok>

I'm surprised no one's done a "If you laid all the global Utd and Real Madrid fans out in a line they would stretch to the Moon" article yet. Tho' I suppose if they did one then all the Liverpool and Barca fans might be tempted to give it a go ;)
