The Professional Footballers' Association has released who footballers from the Premier League and Football League voted for in their Fifa World XI.

Strikers: Robin van Persie, Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Midfielders: Yaya Toure, Xavi and Andres Iniesta.

Defenders: Ashley Cole, Vincent Kompany, Gerard Pique and Sergio Ramos.

    Goalkeeper: Joe Hart.

Do you agree with their choices?

There are not too many from other leagues are there.

The actual voted Fifa World XI were all Real Madrid and Barcelona players, with the exception of Falcao, who plays in La Liga as well.

I think Yaya Touré should be in the World XI though.

i don't agree the official world team, the debate is ragging on the BBC right now. not in terms of the detail but that is completely from La Liga.

it's all subjective, but yes to the team above.

i'd have the Norfolk Cafu in the defence rather than Pique though <ok>

Hope youre joking Max lol, Pique is quality. Aguero was unlucky not to be up there. Messi voted him 3rd after Iniesta and xavi and you cant argue with the best player ever!

Saying that, in a massive showing of hypocrisy, id have Mata in there perhaps have him instead of Xavi as he has been immense last season and this (best in the Prem for me).

Leigton Baines has to be ahead of Ashley Cole, both as a person and a footballer!

I find it bizarre that supposedly the best XI players in the world all play in La Liga and yet the Champions' League Final didn't have a Spanish side in it. Yes Barcelona are brilliant but they won the Spanish Cup last season. Nothing else. You can't argue that there should be a fair number of Spaniards in the team as they are World and Euro champions but I can't believe that there is not a single player outside of Spain worthy of a place in the starting XI

Can anyone think of any non spaniard to put in ahead of them? I'd be more inclined to add more. I know I'd rather have Alonso, Silva and most definitely Mata instead of Toure.

I would definitely have Toure instead of Mata, not sure about Alonso and Silva though, that's a hard one to call.

This Messi chap sounds quite good. I think we should drop our interst in Glenn Murray and pursue him before the end of Jan... I'll look him up on Youtube and let you know if he's any good.

Wonky I have to disagree there. Mata is definitely better than Toure. Toure is World Class no doubt but Mata is second to none in the Prem this season. OK they play different positions but Id say Mata has far more effect for Chelsea than Toure does for City. My humble opinion of course

Fair point. We have different opinions on this, everybody does. <ok>

Agree Mata has been great, but I feel Toure does a lot more and is more versatile.

Just from the Premier League I think you could make a case for Joe Hart/Petr Cech in goal, Leighton Baines, Vidic, Kompany, Yaya Toure, RvP. I don't think either Barca or Madrid have great defences and rely upon having stunning midfield and forward lines. I agree that the midfield/forwards should be mostly from La Liga - tough to argue with Messi/Ronaldo/Iniesta and Xavi
