It has been truly diabolical so far. Not many games have been played so far and there have been a huge number of mistakes so far. The media have mostly missed the errors in less important games but the errors in big games with the big teams have been widely talked about, of course. I've been inspired to make this thread by the game on now: SWI - ECU. The officials in this game have disallowed a goal by Switzerland for offside even though it's quite clear, upon looking at the replay, that the player was not even close to being offside. I am not one for the introduction of technology to help with this. I'm ok with the goal line technology but I don't want replays to be used for all kinds of decisions as it would kill the pace of them game. But for football of this level, the quality of decisions should be a lot better. I honestly think that more than half of the games so far or in fact a clear majority of games so far have had at least one key error from a referee, whether it be a wrongly awarded penalty, a penalty that should have been awarded or a disallowed goal that should have stood. And that's not to mention all of the smaller errors made, which also seem to be high in number. I haven't watched all of the games so far but I've watched most of them and I've only been impressed by about 2 referees so far.
Spain's penalty was terrible too. Mexico had two goals wrongly disallowed as well. Theyve got at least 50% of the big decisions wrong.
Not to mention that every ex-pro has said that Gerrard should have got a penalty last night! http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/wo...ow-shirt-claims-former-Brazil-star-Elber.html
Lends weight to the "two challenges" bandwagon, the officials are piss-poor and these are supposed to be the 'elite'...
They might get three four things wrong in a while tournament, its been three times that already and each team hasn't played once. The refs have been good apart from getting most of the big decisons wrong. I've hardly seen them get a foul outside the box wrong yet every almost pen decision is wrong!
The ref in the opening game was shocking, Neymar elbowing modric, the penalty and the disallowed goal. Hope they don't give him another game
If we see him again, we will know it was orders from Fifa to make sure Brazil go through, they won't want them to go out early. Hes just crap if hes sent home.
