Hear, hear! How does one buy wine at auction? Is there a tasting session or does one buy blind?Interesting thread bob.
When it comes to wine I'm a bit of a traditionalist not really a fan of new world. I like my whites from France burgundy, sanceres Sauvignon Blanca. Like oddy I'm a fan of piedmont, barbera and gavis and I love a Barolo but it's got to be oak aged.
One of my best friends buys lots of wine to lay down, he buys unsold lots at auction as the dealers want shot at a huge discount but you have know what you are doing
You have to know your wines and growers, mostly fine wines so there is a catalogue beforehand and tasting a lot helps, also knowing about vintagesHow does one buy wine at auction? Is there a tasting session or does one buy blind?
And relatively very cheap.Btw Ron I understand you live in France , you have the best wine in the world right under your nose, so to speak.
