It's still not looking all that bad in my eyes. If you ignore the ridiculous rumours (IE: RVP, Walcott) then we're rumoured to be losing Fabregas, Nasri and Clichy. The only one who will have a big impact on the team is Cesc as we cannot really replace him.
Nasri, the player bought to replace Hleb and the player who showed up for a few months last season. Great player, but not good enough for our central mid and he's not a true winger. In other words, he's wasted at Arsenal. The way I see it, we sold Overmars and bought Pires. If we get Mata for him then I would be genuinely happy.
Clichy, I actually really like him and think he's a pretty good fullback, until I compare him to Sagna. His replacement will also be an improvement.
Fabregas however. Well there's the problem. Ramsey is talented enough to eventually fill that void, eventually. Not now. There isn't a player currently available who can do what he does, not even Xavi. Xavi is not the attacking threat that Fabregas is. However, selling him will give our formation more options. Where we have built the team around Cesc, he has been the rock that has prevented movement in tactics. That's not to saying we will be able to fill his spot easily, but United did fine without Ronaldo.

There's some minor players to talk about also. If we can ship out Denilson and promote Coquelin and Lansbury, that would be an improvement.
If Bendtner leaves and we manage to buy a player of Higuain/Benzema/Falcao standards then there is no need to point out the improvement there.
Ship out Squillaci and promote Bartley. With Vermaelen fit again we'd be able to afford using this talented youth player.

We seem to also be on the verge of signing Alvarez and Gervinho with Arshavin looking to leave. Can't have any complaints there.

It's all rosy really. Ignore the papers.

Exactly. With the right buys Arsenal can reach the next level and win several trophies.
