So...obviously Federer is the favourite to take the crown but what are Murray's chances? What does he have to do to break Federer - a man who barely breaks out in a sweat during a 5setter. I note Sue Barker & co are already talking of the country's pressure on Murray but IMO with Federer the firm favourite there should be no pressure on AM unless he chooses to put it on himself. He has to close himself to all the hype surrounding this match, easier said than done I know but he must treat it as he would any match. Could this be Murray's time?
Murray has to keep the rallies long, when fed played novak the rallies were short, if this goes 4- 5 hours I'm not sure fed is fit enough. Murray either has to make it a war of attrition as im not sure he will be able to hit fed of the court, he has to keep the ball deep, and not leave short balls in the middle of the court like he did in his previous finals against fed.
Thanks enigma, a good analysis, let's hope he can do it. If he does all that and doesn't allow the occasion to distract him and plays his game he surely has a chance. One thing you forgot to add: He must serve well throughout the match, anything less will not overcome Federer.
Why did the womens final leave me stone cold..........I did other things and came back just now and again to see how it was going. Williams eventually won as expected........I tuned in just in time to see the Williams family love in......and the over the top acceptance speech........I'm sorry if your a Williams fan but it left me nearly puking.........poor quality tennis and no value for money compared with the men.
I must say i do really like and admire Federer. Just when you thought it was all over he goes and does that to Djokovic . That said, I've always really liked Murray's "don't give a toss about what anyone else thinks" attitude. If he was from somewhere like Canada, Holland or Portugal I suspect he would have a lot of support but as he's seen as a moody Scot he doesn't. I really like him and hope he does it - I actually think he deserves it for managing to have the motivation and enthusiasm to hang onto the coattails of 3 of the greatest players we've seen.
I hope murray gets well and truly beaten tomorrow, I find the guy not only dull but disrespectful. Not once did he mention the crowds support after the semis, arrogant and over rated little prick
He's probably uptight about having to pop over Hadrians wall to earn a living in the land of the Sassenachs.
If Murray serves like he did in the semi final it's only a matter of time before he's broken. His semi final win was as much due to Tsonga's unforced errors as anything else. In the quarter finals I thought he played much better. If the Quarter Finalist Murray turns up, it's game on; otherwise it's good night Murray.
I absolutely agree that Murray will have to be at his very best to keep up with Federer. He will have to serve well throughout and also return like he does at his best, he must not let the occasion get to him and that in itself won't be easy. Federer is without doubt the favourite but that kinda takes the pressure off Murray so is no bad thing. Most important is that Murray has beaten Federer in the past and can do so again, the longer the match goes on the more it will be in AM's favour. Thanks Ron
Murray's place in history would be immense if he won......that is the noose around his neck.....I feel it will be too much for him.
Yes Plym, I feel the press could play a part in this and give him space but they don't care why would they when they do their best to build up his bad reputation that is largely their fault anyway!
Hi lalala, I've posted a link to here on the Norwich board, but I don't know if any of them will visit, I hope they do! I also hope the right Andy Murray turns up tomorrow, I was hoping Federer would win his semi as I thought Murray had a better chance of beating him, but having seen the way Federer beat Djokovic, I'm now not so sure! Come on Andy!!!!
