Toni Kroos, Mario Goetze, Oscar, Eden Hazard, Thiago, Isco, Aden Ljajic, Paul Pogba, Iker Muniain, Marco Veratti, Xherdan Shaqiri, Lucas Moura, Philippe Coutinho. All top top players and probably will become world-class players this is just some of the top Under 24yo midfielders in world football and before you say jack was injured so did Mario Goetze a long time before you went to Bayern not just before and he was injured for almost a year. Eden Hazard can't be that much bigger than Wilshere furthermore I think Jack's even bigger than him the only time he hits the floor is when he's diving I swear Jack spends 10 minutes on the floor in each game he's got short bursts of acceleration than he gets brain freeze. What the **** happened to the little player who used to play for the youth team and reserves with all that technical ability gone
Very, very harsh - all those players you have mentioned have been brought up in a very different technical environment. Can you name a better Englishman in Wilshere's position?
Unfortunately in europe there's dozens of Jack wilsheres In england, there's one.. says it all about the english game
The problem is he's been suffering from a lot of injuries and quite a few have been re-occurring. Add to the fact he is playing in the most physical and least technical league, hasn't helped his cause. He is still a top player and barring any major injuries, should become England's best player.
How many of those players spent nearly a season and a half out injured? Answers on a postcard please. Wilshere only obestical is injuries.
Wilshere is top quality. He's only really shown that in flashes as SJW points out he's been injured for so long. People were now infamously slating Walcott and Ramsey when they were coming back from injury and they've proved to be two of our best players. Same with Jack, once he's back to full fitness he'll be one of the best in the world.
Disagree. Wilshere is a beast. Personally I would always pick him in our starting 11. As Piskie said it'll be simular to the Ramsey/Walcott situation, there's always critics when your not lionel Messi and where hyped a a youngster His progression has been slowed due to injuries but he will be World Class midfielder in a couple of years.
Also , why in the **** is this coming on the back of yesterday's game? When we had 11, he was excellent and was really going at Bayern. Once we were down to ten, he was tied down and could not afford to burst forward anymore.
I'm surprised so many are defending Jack here. Yes his injuries have been serious and hurt his progress but I'd be surprised if many thought he'd developed as much as people expected, I expected him to be dominating midfields by now but it's not happened. Don't get me wrong he's a player I'm pleased we have and he certainly has the passion and love for the club we all love to see, but I thought we'd be seeing more on a regular basis by now...
He was not out for as long as Wilshere and has not kept picking up recurring injuries. Until Wilshere gets a sustained run in the team without picking up injuries, it's impossible to judge him. Look at Ramsey. Last season after the second leg in Munich, he got a run in the team until the end of the season and remained injury free, and then he had a full pre-season, and then bang he showed us his immense talent when the season began.
This isnt't an overreaction when I say this, I have never really rated wilshere as others have, in fact if he didnt play for arsenal I would detest him. To me, he looks like a more technically gifted Joey Barton (remember, he was quite skilful too), whose natural position ia further up the pitch. He is a dirty, vicious little player, and although we like to complain about how he gets the **** kicked out of him every game, before his injury he was as dirty as it got, and now that hes made of glass, players are targetting this weakness. His playing style of taking players on and passing at the last second may look good, but can often be to the detriment of the team, as he can lose the ball trying to be the hero. He's a obnoxious little cheat, and I believe that he'll never reach his true potential, and could even be destined for the bench, as I do not think he'll ever be good enough for the triangle point, and is not quick enough for the wings. Hopefully I will be proven wrong, and he'll clean up his act and become the star player for years to come, but I just don't see it myself. Very negative post I know, but its been in me for a long time.
Ross Barkley has gone off the boil somewhat, but he could be just as good. But the point is that he is massively overrated imo, who cares what his competition is like, Englamd are rubbish nowadays anyway. He is talked of as the best that the world has to offer, rather than just England. He is quite a good player, who has the potential to be very good, but there are already so many players like that, and quite a few who are a lot better.
As an LFC fan, we'll have JW if you don't want him! There's a few English players I'd take to LFC straight away. Wilshere and Barkley are two young players who are on that list.
I thought he was first rate before the injuries, though I always hated the little... Fair enough to say that it looked like Ramsey's injuries had done in his career, and he came back better--but in Wilshire's case he's come back with what seems a different attitude. He was always combative, but now he's crossed the line into being disruptive. As a Spurs fan, I always hope he plays and Cazorla sits. Wilshire is passionate about the shirt though, I'll give him that.
Another problem I feel that clouds people's judgements is the hype factor. Most English players receive it and we have other players like Walcott who got it big time in the early part of his career. Wilshere is the latest player to get it and he has been described as the next saviour of English football. The problem lies in the fact that for an Englishman, he is a terrifically gifted and skillful player. But if you compare him to the Spanish and German's for instance, he becomes very good but not the best. I think he will get better but this is subject to his body and his dedication.
Same If I could pick one it would be Barkley though, purely because we have Coutinho who is superior to Wilshere. Both would be nice though!
Oooh I agree totally. I don't think you can ever over-estimate how much pressure the expectation puts on a young player. Poor Theo took years to get over the hype and it was only once everyone bar Arsenal fans (and including a fair few of them) started to think "he's a bit sh*t" that this eased and he started to come out of his shell. He'll never be a technical maestro but he's an incredibly useful player to have. Jack has had to deal with this for years but, unlike Theo, has vastly superior technical ability. The fan pressure, combined with constant serious injuries have got to weigh on you. Look at Ramsey too ffs! In many ways Aaron had it a bit easier due to not being English but then the poor b*gger was made Welsh captain at a point when he was struggling with us! Even AOC, who I thought was incredibly level-headed, appeared to be bowed under the media hype and had a poor season last year. It's small steps with him but the signs this year are encouraging that he's coming along again. As a country we need to learn that we're fecking ourselves right over.
It is, and I know it comes off as reactionary, but these things tend to brew inside, and doesnt help that all my mates have a hard on for him. In terms of cheat, he's a diver, pure and simple, and often feigns injury. In this respect he is only beaten by the likes of young, I think even suarez does it less these days, its just when he does it, its often more high profile due to his history, and the fact that when he dives, its in the box, as opposed to around the centre circle like wilshere. His constant harassment of referees is appalling, and judging by the way he reacts when others go down easy from his challenges, hes a hypocrite (this is where the barton comparison comes in). I guess odious would be a better word, but his general attitude is that of a spoiled brat, and that isnt all down to his 'passion for the club'. Not saying we should get rid, but he really needs to shape up of hes going to reach anything like his full potential. If he does, I will be the first to admit how wrong I was.
