Interesting thought, AK. I've actually kept the stories historically accurate so far, at least as far as such records we have. Winfrith is generally following the Wessex king, but then who's to say they didn't make an unrecorded visit to Waetford? I must be able to work a hornets' nest into the text somehow though.
 
Got my copy of "The Wide Embrace" today, I've made a start on "The Glint of Silver" will post a review when I'm finished! <ok>

Really enjoying it so far!

I downloaded The Wide Embrace onto my Kindle a while ago too - but whether or not I'll get the chance to read it before summer holidays is debatable (am currently struggling through a Jules Verne novel - The Mysterious Island - and have been for a couple of months).

I'm sure you could weave a hornet's nest into your next novel - how about a raiding party from Waetford into the old Saxon settlement of Lea Tun to recover stolen silverware? Thereby kindling the fires of a long standing rivalry between the two.......

I've now rewritten the first 15,000 words of the third Winfrith book, 'The Morning Gift'. I've had a few positive comments about 'The Wide Embrace', though as yet no reviews. I'm not desperate to sell hundreds of copies so it's of no great importance. That said, if any of you do get round to reading it and can spare a few minutes to add a short review on Amazon I'd be grateful. At least it looks as though someone's read it then!

I'm more than halfway through "The Glint of Silver" theo, I'm enjoying it very much but I'm struggling for reading time at present, I've suddenly got over a hundred new followers on twitter who keep me very busy between my hospital visits, but I will get there! I already have "The Wide Embrace" ready to continue with the Twyford adventures! <ok>

Ordered from my friendly corner bookstore, who really need to pay a few quid in tax, duly delivered, read and reviewed.

Another 5 :emoticon-0171-star: in Amazon from me, for three reasons. It's a ripping yarn, it's well writen and I could never do anything like that (so I'm jealous).
 
Theo - I got through "Glint..." on holiday. Overall a great read and I struggled at times to put it down, which is a good sign. It was the first book that I had read on my new iPad Mini, and it seems to take me longer to read on this medium than it does on trad paper! One suggestion for future books would be to spend a little longer on developing the introduction of the main character so that the reader could "warm" to them more quickly - it took me a long time to warm to Winfrith, even though all she went through she deserves our sympathy - but I did enjoy the read and have just started "Embrace..." and I am looking forward to reading it.

Thanks, w-y, glad you enjoyed it. Feedback is always welcome and by chance rather than design I think there is more about Winfrith as a character in the opening third of the third book than in the others. In the first one I originally had too much background and reduced it quite a bit!

If you have a few spare minutes, any chance of putting a review on Amazon? They all help...
