Does anyone else think it´s turning into a really bad idea to host the WC in Brazil ? Whether or not some of it´s exaggerated or just completely made up is left for you to decide but here´s some of the things that have been reported over the last year or so. Criminals organising gangs to rob tourists/fans. Not enough hotels/accommodation in place to cope with the influx of fans. Fans being forced to look for cheap digs in the dangerous parts of towns. Stadiums falling (way) behind in their contruction. a ? over the overall quality of the stadiums. Infrastructure like wise. 6 deaths (to my knowledge) at the work sites. Constant football related violence. Atleast 30 ppl have been killed in or around football grounds THIS year (according to some sources). Football violence (on awhole in Brazil) getting worse. Threats made to England fans. Any body from Leicester going btw ???
Sorry I thought you were looking for a toilet in RIO... This was their turn to host it...(they offered the biggest bribe).. its a massive country and costs a fortune to live their and get about...its now a TV competition for the world rather than a feast for real fans..only a fool would go out their to watch our fookin losers..,
This is turning out worse than the South African world cup in regards to timings, at least SA got their **** together, Brazil need to turn this around, or its going to be embarrassing for them. The whole gang robbing fans thing is just like the ultras rubbish made up by newspapers during the euros in Ukraine and Poland, i can't see that happening tbh.
Opinions is what this thread is all about, BUT this was on CNN sports news awhile back when a reporter interviewed some local 'top boys' who were almost rubbing their hands together at the 'work' coming their way. Oh & these delightful chap carry guns too. This may depend on whether your walking along a road alone with a 1000 pound video camera, a wallet full of cash & a set of top clothes on. I also remember seeing some English reporter (forget his name) who went out to these sort of neighborhoods all over South America, doing a thing on gangs, trying to get himself mugged with armed police hiding in the wings. Quite bizarre.
